I am having a custom rifle reworked because it is just too heavy for me. I purchased a stock from a member here. It was a take off from a Remington 700 VS. Which I am pretty sure is an HS Precision stock.

I am having the barrel turned down and shortened on a custom 22-250 I had built a few years back. And I would like to have a removable magazine for this rifle. I believe the HS precision removable magazine setup should work pretty well.

How is the quality of this removable magazine?? Will it add alot of weight to my rifle?? Any other comments on the removable magazine?? Thanks, Tom.

Re: HS Precision removable magazine

I run a HS Precision Pro Series RDT with the detachable mag system in it ,both the 5 and 10 rd. mags run silky smooth. The weight is barley noticeable with the 10 rd. mags. The only downside is the costs of extra 10 rd. mags. Expect to pay 85.00-110.00 per mag. But well worth the money.

Re: HS Precision removable magazine

HS detachable has worked well for me and only adds a few ounces. The AICS detachable mags are superior in function but I hate how they stick out the bottom of a hunting rifle.

If you are serious about dropping the weight on your rifle, forget about trivial bottom metal differences and focus on your barrel length and contour and stock selection: those are most important by far.
