HS precision stock is this ok?

hello,
have a new hs precision stock and it has some gouges is this normal?

Just the notch for the recoil lug and it will be forced back towards the bedding block so it should not bother anything. If you want to make it pretty a bit of JB-Weld mixed up and something to hold it in place while it sets up and not fill the lug cutout will make it pretty again. Neither of mine had that though, was pretty clean on all the machined areas. It does looks like there are rub marks on the bedding block like an action has been in it before.

Maybe a return?

I am a HS Precision fan and I haven't seen one like that. It will not effect accuracy but if your picky and want to wait I would return it to me it wouldn't matter as I always bed the recoil lug area.

It is "fixable" but why should you? It was purchased new, return it get what you paid for. HS is a good company, and make mistakes, let them fix it for you. Before the "color coat" was applied, who knows what other "little problems" may be hiding-the ones you can't see?
