Hello,

I have a HS stock from a Remington 700P. I want to replace the recoil pad with a Pachmyer Decelerator 750B. Does anyone know what size pad I will need.

I know that some minor fitting will be required. Thanks.

Re: HS Stock recoil pad replacement

Google/ search is your friend. Many wont take the time to even suggest as topic has been covered in detail numerous times.
Preferred pad here is the limbsaver..

Google/ search 5r recoil pad or 5r recoil pad etc Play with the words use 5r as I know their is a long well written detailed write up here on it..

Good Luck

Thx mlh28,

But I did google search. I also went through all of the 200 something pages of Sniper Hide gunsmithing. The Limbsaver was mentioned extensively, however I prefer the Pachmyer Decelerator pads.

Probably gonna take the gun to a local smith and let him deal with it.

Re: HS Stock recoil pad replacement

Thanks Axeman,

I saw your posts earlier and I really like how your rifle turned out.

My problem is that my stock does not have a spacer system like yours does. Your stock, like mine, is tapered towards the butt. Your spacers make the recoil pad larger due to the increased taper.

I measured the rear face of my HS recoil pad. I measured 1 5/8 inches wide by 5 inches long. I'm thinking of going with the small or medium sized pad and sanding it down to fit. Pachmyer makes the decelrator pad with a metal insert, so I need to ensure that I don't grind down to the insert. My understanding is that metal insert increases in size when you go from small, to medium, to large. That's why I originally posted my question.

Thanks for the replies.
