I’m just curious how many of you think your significant other would be an asset or a liability in the event of social collapse or whatever you wanna call it.

No comment. On 2 points. We have enough going on right now, and sometimes she reads the forum. Let’s just say I’d be busy working 25 hours a day when the “event” kicks in.

My wife is a Veterinarian (DVM). She has stitched me up after accidents, performed minor surgeries on me, and I'm not even going to mention which animal and human antibiotics are interchangeable.

She also grew up on a cattle ranch, and has an extensive knowledge of plant life and growing food. She actually did soils judging in college for fun.

Plus she can shoot fairly well...as in better than the average man. She did a stint as an Army Veterenarian, and got some of the basics down. However with just a few days of working fundamentals, she got a lot better. I have no doubt that she could qualify in the high sharpshooter/low expert range with both rifle and pistol.

Oh, and she let's me touch her boobies too...

Liability. She does alright on the range and we hunt, but not, and call me crazy...for combat. There’s a difference. Animals and paper don’t shoot back. L ambushes, horseshoes, escape and evade, bound and set, contact and move, mounted operations, evasive driving, remedial actions and clearing stoppages under fire, self aid/buddy aid, etc. all topics she and half this forum are unfamiliar with.

Combat mindset is not something anyone can really teach anyone that truly makes sense until you live and experience the value. So outside of technique, and gear, there’s that too.

Ill temper my initial post......

Once the threat is directed at the kids all bets will be off.

She will be as dangerous as any wild animal can be.

My problem wil be Ill be standing there thinking "Hon, You should have been fighting like this when they were on the other side of the wire"

Mine would be in her vest laying down support fire while I sniped idiots. She has been trained for stress fire and has seen me beat half to death but covered me and attended to my wounds so I think she will be fine. I pray it never comes to that but prepare for it.

Shit, no disrespect man, but I'd probably choose her over you!

50/50, until someone pissed her off, then... Watch out! She's a great shot, got a mean right cross, and would lay a wide swath of destruction from here to the horizon.

Not that I have any first hand evidence of any of the aforementioned ?

Liability. She is good with her hands and smart, she can handle a pistol or rifle no issue.
She just doesn't have the stomach for what would need to be done. Her main thought would always be with the kids and taking care of them. Don't know if she could have clairity of mind moving forward if something happened to one of them.

My ex would've needed a snack before the first mag was emptied. The IBA alone would've smoked her in the first five. I hope she reads this.

Not a spouse, but my brother from another mother and former team mate lives with me and he's worth a 1000 fat wives in a pinch.

Mines also a DVM who works as an ER veterinarian so her medical knowledge while not specifically for humans is still way ahead of mine. That alone assures me she would be an asset.

Someone has to help keep the patriots fed and stocked with beer. *clap clap* chop chop honey, sammiches need to be made. That stove wont tend itself. (Im such a asshole I know)

Mine would be both.

Great survival instinct, very much in tune with killing for food and defense. Hates almost everyone.

Buuuut she's a redhead, so she looses her shit at inopportune moments and sometimes she doesn't get uncunted in time to get her mind on task in timely fashion.

I learned a new word today. Thank you sir! Autocorrect kept printing uncounted :ROFLMAO:

Mines a liability as well. I even told her that a little over a week ago. I don't watch the news, or tv for that matter, or pay attention to anything really. But 2 weeks ago I told we don't have enough supplies. She basically told me I'm paranoid and am freaking out. To keep things simple, let's us the water for example; she said we have 2 cases of water. I said fucked head, 48 bottles divided by 3 people is only 1 bottle a day for 16 days if shit gets real.

She went on to say that I'm overreacting and she didn't want to think about it. My reply was I'd like to be prepared and these are the kinds of things you need to be thinking about and that she'd be one of the first mother fuckers dead if she didn't get her head out of her ass.

She didn't talk to me for a few days, but I got my point across.

She just doesn't have that warrior mentality, and sadly, neither does my son.

Dude, you're golden.

Same here, wife is a surgical tech who spends her whole day in the OR fixing shit. She had patched me up a few times and keeps our med kit full of stitch kits and other useful items. And she can shoot. Definitely an asset imo.

I voted asset but it’s a 55/45 percentage feeling about it. She was in the marine corps, so I know she can pass a tough boot camp, but her warrior mentality is either gone or laying dormant.

When we go camping or hiking, I sometimes wonder how the hell she passed boot camp lol I could definitely see her being able to spot and provide intel.

As for being in the same vehicle and fighting out of it, I’m much less confident. I’m hoping this whole COVID thing will change that around if it’s not too late.

I tried the mentor style and mean style to motivate her. It takes a mix of both ar the right time.

My wife. She is the daughter of a former 10th SFG(A) Sergeant Major. I have had her as my assistant instructor during military training (mountaineering, ice climbing, skiing) as I trusted her above any others. She is a World Champion Action Shooter and former Colorado State Women's Biathlon Champion.

Wife is a teacher but she gets shit done when she's home, like now. I'm still working and by the time I get home I help with what's left. She can't shoot worth a shit but will absolutely get dirty and drink all my beer.
This is my wife, minus the beer drinking. I am sooooo lucky to have her.

Asset, without a doubt. My wife runs our farm, schools and raises our children, is survival and tactically minded, teachable and not afraid to get her hands dirty. She doesn't have killer instinct but if our family were threatened she would stop the threat. She understands that there are times when violence is the answer, and she would SS&S right beside me.
