im looking for a replacement trigger guard and hinged floor plate for a Remington 700 SPS Tacitcal... the factory ones are plastic and i dont like plastic anyone know where i can get some aluminum or steel ones?

Re: I HATE plastic

Tons of different options. I think Williams makes a drop in floorplate, but others will need the inlet tinkered with to get the right fix.

Badger Ordnance
CDI Precision
Surgeon
APA

Those are just a start.

my feelings exactly... i never even thought about them being plastic till i bought the gun got it home and was cleaning it all up... after buying this gun im not sure if i will buy another new 700... maybe just an old one and replace the furniture and barrels and get a good action with no plastic

Re: I HATE plastic

Just say BDL floorplate any of those should work. If you don't want the gloss ones, then just say FLAT BLACK. The will be Aluminum which I would guess is what you currently have. Almost pot metal type.

If you want steel, then William replacement is the drop in ticket. Otherwise if you don't mine to have your stock modified a lil then just about any of the above will work.

Also Hooper, RAD Custom, Seekings Precision, and the list can go on forever.

Re: I HATE plastic

I find this hard to believe...all the new 700's I've seen have the crappy aluminum bottom metal. Not saying you're wrong.....but are you sure it's plastic? If it really is, then this is a new low!

I'd recommend PTG or Williams for a reasonably priced setup. If wanting a detachable mag then look at Seekins, Surgeon, CDI, or Badger.

If you put a WTB add in the WTB/WTT section, you could probabaly get a factory aluminum unit at a reasonable price.

I'm assuming they have the same inlet.....could be wrong. </div></div>

+1, theres got to be 100's of them laying around this site, I've got two of em myself, one for a doorstop, and the other one if for throwin at the cat

I believe the blind magazine guns have a plastic triggerguard, but I think the hinged floorplate units still have the cheap aluminum. Pretty much garbage IMHO, but if you consider the number of guys upgrading SPS Varmints with new stocks and bottom metal, it's a bit of a nod to this crowd to sell the guns cheaper with stocks and triggerguards that can be thrown away.

Just a thought

Re: I HATE plastic

It's not plastic, it's shitty coated potmetal, it's nasty but it's not going to break and I can think of a lot of things that are more important to spend money on first if you're on a budget

Re: I HATE plastic

ya my mistake but it is shit and if it feels like plastic yet its a metal it must be crappy... i think i will hold off and upgrade to a removable magazine if the guns a keeper some day

I stand corrected. It is pot metal but felt just like plastic. I not disappointed anymore.

Re: I HATE plastic

I know remington has used some "alloys" of late. Like my 504 Magazine is a "magnesium" based metal, but feels just like plastic. However, it definately is metal. I'd look at hs precision, badger, and i actually think Cabelas makes a clip conversion for about 80 bucks. Not as good as badger, but definately cheaper...Then you'd have removable magazines instead of a floor plate. Worth a look.
