Seems that since last November 10% off offers from the gun warehouses have disappeared.

I used to look forward to Brownells/Sinclair having 10% off sales on holidays such as Memorial Day, Fathers Day etc.

If I think I need something, and have time to wait, I go to Brownells website and enter the item in my shopping cart than wait for a 10% off holiday and submit my order.

What they are doing now is offering a $10 gift card if you spend minimum $99.

So I just made an order as close to $99 as I could get. I left those items in my cart that would have been purchased otherwise and will wait for the next offer or will buy locally if I really need them.

I wonder why the offers dried up? They dont need the extra business during the madness? I wonder if this is helping or hurting sales?

    Brownells/Sinclair is a great vendor - boy am I a cheap bastard.

They have a $5 shipping deal...forget what the minimum is... DUT is the code.

I've still got my LE discount with Brownells and buy a lot of stuff from them. Great company.

I believe the LE/Mil discount is the same as the deal for FFL holders. And their discount codes or deals are easy to understand and the restrictions are minimal.

Midway has a 4th of July discount going. Ten bucks off. Buddy and I were going to order a mess of brass, some tools, all sorts of stuff. $600+ worth.
We still didn't Qualify for Potterfields measly ten bucks!!

The DUT Brownells code requires a min $125 purchase to receive $5 S&H. It saved me ~$9 on an order placed early last week. I assume its still available, but these things seem to dry up fast!!

As for Midway...they have been EXTREMELY rare since the first of the year. There were some that surfaced a month or so back that were hit and miss. The truly insulting part about the Midway promo running now for Independence Day is that...ready for this...it "Excludes Ammo, Reloading Components and Gun Parts" in addition to the usual disclaimers with it not applying to NF, Sitka, Geissele products, etc. I'm not sure what the hell exactly qualifies for the discount then unless you buy $100 worth of socks or patches or t-shirts, but its not worth a hell of a lot at a GUN PARTS and RELOADING SUPERSTORE!!! ;)

Damn it! Didn't know about the $5 DUT deal.

Im not knocking Brownells, they are a great company that stands by their product and treats the customer well. I really appreciate the LE discount also, nice of them to offer it. I turned all the guys I know on the job to the same so I try to get them customers in return.

Im just cheap. A penny saved is a penny spent on reloading stuff from Sinclair. They will get my money one way or another so why do I fight it?

    What has Brownell's been gouging?

I've made several orders from them throughout the panic and can't recall being charged a higher than normal price on anything.

Or am I sensing more of the same sour grapes from this thread that I saw in the Midway discount thread?

Why give loyal customers a discount when there are plenty of new customers willing to buy all items at gouged prices and keeping their shelves empty?

Brownells does not gouge in my experience. Very fair and totally customer driven. Ive had zero bad experiences with the gun industry people I have dealt with - Brownells, Midway, Triad, Brian Enos, LMT, Smith and Wesson - the rest of our economy could take a lesson.

Took advantage of that and got my 10% because I bought $100 worth of the $190 worth of miscellaneous crap I had in my cart.

So my two new Dewey rods and some shooters choice are on the way but Ill wait for another gift card and add some patches before I make my next $99 order. Actually it will be an $89 order because Ill use the $10 gift card that is in route. God its got to be tough to run a business if all your customers were as cheap as me.

I just wonder if from a business point where did Brownells get their best return on the offer.

In my case it probably doesnt matter because eventually they will get the entire sale. But my purchase would have been bigger right now had the 10% been applied to the whole order.

How often do the 10% off offers result in someone making big orders they otherwise wouldnt have?

In November I made a $1K plus order from them just because I could take advantage of the Black Friday discount - it was like getting a free 7.62 SureFire Muzzle brake when all was said and done - fantastic in my opinion.

What would you like better a free muzzle brake or a $10 gift card?

I wonder which tactic is better for Brownells from a business perspective.

Inversely I may have screwed myself. What if adding the other $90 of stuff to this order it would have all shipped for the $14 I am paying to get the stuff I did order. Now I will have to pay another $14 to get the remaing order. Net result I lost $4. Hmmmm... how much can I squeeze that nickle.

Did you miss the Sniper's Hide discount? 50% off all your posts. :D

I lost 100%. I had made it all the way up to Gunny and now Im a private again.

Im okay with that the high post count was a daily reminder of how much time I spend here and I was really thinking I need to get a hold of my hobbies and get a life.

Get an 03FFL, Brownell's offers really good discounts for C&R ffl holders. It will probably pay for itself on your first purchase.

Not really, it depends on the product, some of their "dealer prices" are retail on other websites. The great thing about brownells is that you can return anything for any reason at anytime

So I was bitching about not getting 10% off from Brownells. This was the Invoice I ordered

A couple of Dewey rods, some Shooters Choice, some brushes

THIS WAS IN THE BOX AND NOT ON MY INVOICE

It explains why my tracking number rated the package at 35 pounds.

It was a severe test of my sense of right but I did call Brownells today and get a Return Merchandise Approval. I seriously considered the huge savings this would represent over tooling up my S1050 for .308 and .223. It took about 15 minutes of thinking that way before I realized the ammo made on it would be cursed. Hopefully Karma returns the favor.

Anyway it would have been much better than a 10% discount.
