i need a new trigger for my 700

Re: i need a new trigger for my 700

If spending the money, I'd go with an old 700 trigger and having a smith tune it.

If you don't want that route, Timney and Rifle Basix are a nice value.

Hey Fishguts,
I've got a solution to your problem with the trigger. I'm sending you a PM with my cell #. Give me a call and I think you will be very happy with the solution.

Re: i need a new trigger for my 700

I have a Rifle basix and I like it. My buddy has a tuned old style stock Rem trigger in his 30-06 thought and it is nice as well. The old style remmy is definitely the least expensive option.

Re: i need a new trigger for my 700

The x pro is not the way to go, mine had very inconsistent pull weights. +1 on a rifle basix, an older Remington trigger or a Timney, those are all better options.

Re: i need a new trigger for my 700

The X-mark Pro is a gamble if you believe the internet. Some people aledge to have good ones that work as advertised (3lb pull externally adjustable +/- 1lb) mine was around 5-6lbs and wouldn't adjust at all externally and not under 4lbs reliably/safely internally. It was fairly crisp, but not without some creep, and it has that stupid screw there to eat at your finger. If you've never felt a decent trigger and don't have a scale or proof weights to determine pull, you'll probably like it, or maybe you'll get lucky. I like tuned old Remmy triggers, and even more the Timney that replaced my X-Mark.

Re: i need a new trigger for my 700

+1 on Timney. I put in a 517 straight trigger on my R700 AAC-SD and haven't looked back. Adjustment is pretty easy and has a crisp break. I also found it to be relatively value priced at under $125.

Re: i need a new trigger for my 700

Yea fuck the xmark,I hate mine. If you want mine ill sell it to you cheap. My gun shoots Damn good but its weird I can call my shots based off the way my trigger breaks. Sometimes it feels good and other times it feels like its never guna break. Fuckin weird I hate it. Im replacing mine with a Timney 510

Re: i need a new trigger for my 700

I like my Shilen. I wouldn't give you the old X-Mark unless I really thought you were an assclown, no reason to put a decent person through the crap that is X-Mark

If this going on a GAP rifle get something that will make it still feel like one. I went with Shilen over Jewell after reading about a bunch of people on here that didnt like it for a field rifle. If this a bench rifle or you don't get it dirty then look no further than a Jewell.

Re: i need a new trigger for my 700

FWIW - I didn't like the Timney I had and will only use Jewell triggers now. I like the HVR version. It can be set for different trigger pull weights (1.5oz to 3.5lb).

Re: i need a new trigger for my 700

Here's another plug for the Timney triggers; I doubt there's a more well rounded field trigger.

I went with a 3lb Timney 517 as I use thick gloves.
