Okay So my barrel is finished and I need to send my receiver off to kieger to instal and chamber. I cant decide on what recoil lug to choose. Its a standard Remmy 700 long action that will be chambered in 6.5-284 norma with a 30 in barrel.

Ask Krieger if they keep them on hand, if they have a preference then use what they suggest. </div></div>
This pretty well sums it up. Pick a straight flat one.

ok , im tired of feeling stupid. So im going to ask a stupid question. WTF is the recoil lug? And why do people change it so often? When I built my 300winmag on a BAT Action with Krieger barrel, my buddy / smith didnt mention me needing to choose a "recoil lug". And what benefits do you certain lugs offer over others?
Re: I need help picking my recoil lug for a 700 rem
Jig,
A recoil lug is the thing that sticks downward on your barreled action. It sits where the barrel and action meet. It is used to absorb the recoil so the action screws aren't taking the brunt of the force.

unless you have something you specifically want, ask your builder what they recommend, in this case krieger. i personally prefer .25" or thicker lugs because it gives me a bit more breathing room when threading/fitting the barrel. many times this also requires the stock to be opened up to accommodate it though.
