I've got a rifle that has a heavy MTU contour barrel on it in a Manners T4 stock. I'm having it rebarreled with a Krieger Standard Palma barrel (wanted something much lighter for tactical matches). What's it going to look like with the stock inletted for that fatty barrel and then having that lighter thin barrel put on it? I know it won't affect or hurt anything, but with the $$$ I've got in this custom rifle, I don't want it to look too screwy either. Anybody done that and what'd it turn out like? Anyone got any pics? Thanks!

Right on. Who cares how she looks as long as she performs everytime. That's what counts.

Douglas magnum sporter (1.20 tapered to ~.820 IIRC) in a T4A with a MTU channel:

Rather have a lot of air around the barrel than have it touching, and then there's the versatility of going bigger later. As the other folks have said, are you looking to shoot it or take pictures of it and enter it in a beauty contest?

And now that skinny-ish tube is in an AICS, which has more space. Trust me, the POI doesn't give a rat's ass.

But it makes the 5-25 USO that is gonna ride it now look HUGE!!

Thanks for the pictures sobrbiker883. That first pic of the T4 is nearly identical to what I'll end up with. Looks good and I'm sure more importantly shoots good.
I should have know better than to ask a cosmetic question on here?

Thanks again!

I order all my stocks with as big of barrel channel as I can get for this very reason , I had a small stick get wedged between my stock and barrel once and cause the gun to shoot WAY high right , missed a deer cause of it. only had about 1/16" clearance and I never new it was their till I pulled the action oit of the stock.

plus all that space lets alot more air around the barrel allowing it it heat and cool a little more evenly

Dude, I can't believe your worried about your new sticks girlish figure? She may not have big tits but she will be easy to swing over your shoulder

Re: How ugly is it going to be?

reminds me of the old joke. this musician is doing a gal and she says "i didnt know you were bringing such a small organ" he says "i didnt know i was going to be playing in a concert hall"

is this thing on? like shooter and mick jagger said, paint it black. it wont be very noticeable. say its what all the new tac rifles are wearing this spring. maybe youll start a trend?

lol, i cant believe you asked that either

Re: How ugly is it going to be?

Lucks, I am having Manners build me a stock, a T1 for a FN SPR action with the same barrel. One of the questions they ask me was what barrel I was going to put in it. It sounded to me like if you tell them what barrel you are using the will fit a channel to the contour of the barrel. I could be wrong. Like the other guys said is it going to used for tactical matches or tacticool matches. A shooter is a shooter no matter what kind of dress she is wearing.
