I Spy New Baby Razor G3 4-24

You can tell that DBD has not shot Geissele gas gun matches that are scored time plus. Nobody dials! You don’t have time! Why does everyone think that the way they like something should be the holy grail for everyone else. Sheesh.
I actually shot one this year using a ZCO 420 with MCPT1X. Time outs arent due to not having a tree, its due to being fat, broken and slow. Oh and the first time shooting that type of format. Finding the hidden targets is half the battle.

I doubt a tree would have helped my slow times anyway. Didn't have time this season but plan to shoot a bunch next year. Not planning on using a tree reticle either.

Getting off on thin ice here. (Not being a Vortex man) However, on the subject of Christmas tree reticles. I really like them, especially the Leupold PR2. Here’s the issue. I never use it. I hold off, measuring from the hash marks on the cross hairs and that’s it.

A picture in my mind from this weekend. Shooting a thousand yard stage. A no dial stage to boot. Five shots at the 1000 yard target. After I figured out the wind, scored three hits in a row on that target. (That’s a really good thing for me, maybe not you but for me, its something to write home about) I see that silhouette in my mind, I held just above the #3 on the Verticle crosshair and the wind hold had the verticle cross hair just past the edge of the target. Never once thought of using the Christmas tree. The scope was set for the short range target allowing a hold of 3.2 mils above the center of the crosshair.

So, yes, I can see just having mil marks on the cross hairs and forget the rest. In fact, our one and only Vortex, on my wife’s .22 gun has that type of reticle and it works fine.

Before you ask, being a Leupold man, why am I here? Because I am always open to new ideas and new/different products. Can’t know unless you look.

I dialed for elevation and held for wind when I shot International F TR Class

I love the Christmas Tree type reticles for all field and timed events. It’s so much faster and the Vortex MilRad ret just is easy as can be to use.

This scope is designed for Gss Guns and field use the simple straight up and down only lines would not be near as nice for the intended purpose

I don’t shoot the PRS but if I did I would be using a 6-36 Mil Rad and dialing for the small targets

I don’t have a problem watching trace or hits with the Vortex MilRad ret

Maybe think about using it, practice with it and then use it in a match and you will probably like it even more.
