You decide your SN "poorboyshooter1" or whatever , they have to know that befoe they issue the stamp.
Complete your form and all cheif LEO sign off and finger prints , mail in with $200 check , your check gets cashed in a couple weeks and your stamp will be sent to you IF you filled it out right.
NOTE : you can NOT start working on your suppressor until the finished tax stamp is in your hand

Doesn't he need the legal alien card too? the one that you sign yourself just saying that your in the US legally. I have done two form ones, but it was several years ago. And doesnt all have to be in duplicate?

Re: I want to legally make my own can

I built one 8 years ago or so. I had to fill out a form for "permission to manufacture a firearm?" I forgot which form, take finger prints at the police office, tell them which rifle it was to be mounted to (I think mine is tied to a certain serial number weapon?) Mine is press fit to the specific weapon (a .22) so it is not interchangeable with others anyway, so it didn't matter to me.

I keep my paperwork in the rifle case at all times in case an "official" gets curious about my legality.

I have to fill out another form each time I move or transport the weapon to another place.

Check out the silencersmithing section of silencertalk forum.

You need to have your design figured out beforehand at least in regards to exterior measurments as that will go on the form 1.

There are some general rules of thumb to consider before wasting time and money on a stamp such as volume (as in cubic inches not Db's )needed for the caliber you intend to build it for. Again ST is a good place to start.

+1 to the silencersmithing section of the Silencertalk forum. There's lots of reading to be done over there.

You need to fill out 2 form 1s, 2 FBI fingerprint cards, and 2 citizenship forms. If you do a Google search you can find that info. Forms can be ordered straight from the ATF. You need to specify caliber, length, model #, and serial # on your form 1. Diameter is not specified, so you can do what you want there. Of course you need to have it signed by your chief LEO or set up a trust. It seems the wait is up to around 5 months now.
