There comes a point where one goes from rightfully complaining about something that is wrong - to bitching about everything to the point where you're just a bitch.

And you're going to have to do something positive to fix what you're bitching about too. Run for office, become an LEO, do community outreach. Otherwise you're still just a bitch with no fortitude.

I say this as a dude who has over a dozen LEO friends that I worked with during my career in the 'Corps. There are some damn good dudes in that company. I couldn't do the job myself as I have a very unchristianly temper, and it got me in hot water several times in uniform. No way could I let someone spit on me, or walk into a house where mom and dad are passed out from drugs, and the kid is in an 18 hour old dirty diaper... and not have a physical response. So I tried my hand as a teacher for a bit after I retired, and now hold a low-level local government position that allows me to also help my wife with her clinic. It is still a way to serve my community.

I also say this as a guy who has had two less than optimal interactions with police officers who insisted on being right, when they weren't. I shut my mouth, let crap play out, and everything worked in my favor in the end. If you think I didn't have at least a dozen interactions like that in the 'Corps, I've got a bridge to sell you in Arizona.

Does this mean I "lick boots" and trust all cops? Not hardly. But I trust the system that I represent. If you don't, you've got countries to your direct north and south that I'm sure you can move to if you want. I'm sure stuff is much more "fair" for you there too.

Much like I said in another post. If you take the group of all 'cops' youll find a curve like in all other groups. There are Saints who run into burning houses, there are devils who frame innocent to the gas chamber. I've met some of each. Most fall in between and I'd say generally with a small bump toward the positive.

As you mentioned, my temper would not allow me to do that job. I've found it best to usually keep mouf shut and ride it out. If I'm polite and reasonable, they usually are as well.

But fuck the ones that disrespect the trust we've put in them to do it right.

Out of aproximately 750,000 peace officers across the United States, one of them did something good or useful. I just don't see anyone willing to "report" on the good side.

It kinda pisses me off when a person bitches about a job they are unwilling or unfit for.

I am willing to bet it's not as much fun bitching about something properly done or anyone showing compassion. Goodness forbid the officer does his job without a shooting or beating someone.

My brother was a sheriff's deputy and a fed for awhile. He has awards for saving people from flash floods in Las Vegas and keeping a jumper from jumping. He took part in every community outreach program for young adults. He had the living shit knocked out of him for protecting a battered woman. He ended up in the hospital with a broken ankle and a severe concussion. He took the beating but the man wasn't able to hurt or kill the woman he was protecting. The man went to prison. I'd have prefered my brother killed the bastard.

Since birth, my children were instructed to be passive and respectful anytime they are dealing with law enforcement. If the officer is a complete dick, let him/her be and do everything told to them. They were taught to go to jail peacefully and don't resist in the least bit. Long story short, show respect. Prove to the officer you are no threat by making sure the officer can see inside the car or whatever and the officer can see the empty hands of all people. We will deal with the law side AFTER you are in jail, unbeaten and fully alive. It's just not asking much.

We know what happened to Saint Floyd but no one asks why the three other people caught with floyd didn't die or received a huge reparation.

People are just too stupid anymore. What does it take to control yourself knowing the cops are going to escalate agression to no less than pain, worse if needed.

Perhaps, but I think with decent pay and decent treatment for the Police Officers, there would be plenty to take care of the important job of like actually going after real criminals and real predators. Especially if career paths were more flexible to allow it to be a second job for some.

Now if there isn't enough left over for "revenue collection" or making Karens who "don't like people doing what they don't like" I don't think that would be a great loss.

You would need to get society to actually embrace freedom and stop wanting to make laws against things they don't like but other people like.

I have been in florida almost 2 years and aside from waving at them maybe 6 times I have had zero interaction with LEO. Not once was I shot/at ,cuffed n slammed , PR 24 ed , ticketed ,pulled over [thats amazing ] ,frisked , had drugs /evidence planted on me .

About six months ago headed back to FL a state troop pulls me over. 76 in a 55. Handed him my DL and CCW, agreed I was doing 76 and must have missed a sign. He walks back to his vehicle, comes back in less than two minutes and tells me to slow it down. Didn’t even say have a nice day.

Well here in Texas most likely they will walk up to you with the ticket already written so you can sign it and they can go after the next revenue.

Here the police already have all that on their computer screens before they even decide to pull you over.
Their cameras scan the license plates while they are sitting or driving and all that information comes up, including insurance or lack of it (because no insurance = nice juicy ticket).

Within the last two years, they had another incident where in training, some cop pulled out his gun and shot through a glass window spraying another cop with glass they weren’t even supposed to be pulling their guns, let alone shooting.

No, it’s our goddamn duty to keep cops on their toes and to complain when they screw up. It is also our duty to make sure they have the proper training, equipment, mindset and support to do the job. It is not a duty to canonize them as untouchables. Nor to pretend that there is not a major problem with policing.

I don't do drugs man... I tried that crap once after I retired, and had such a bad anxiety attack. Quite literally I was reliving the worst moments of my OIF deployments. I don't do drugs man... I tried that crap once after I retired, and had such a bad anxiety attack. Quite literally I was reliving the worst moments of my OIF deployments.
