Gunsmithing Ideal 300 win free bore w/215 Bergers

Looking for input on the ideal free bore for a 300 winmag when shooting 215 Bergers. The box magazine will be a 3.850” Wyatt. My gunsmith has a reamer with .240 freebore but that sounds like a lot to me.

I'd send him a dummy round and have him throat it to fit what you'd like.

I shoot Berger 230s, right at the lands. I just pulled one out of the box I loaded Friday night - COL = 3.617. They fit in an AI magazine - close but no issues. Consider buying your own reamer. If you move or your gunsmith gets busy, the next guy will have a different reamer. If you have your own, there is no issue. I like JGS, YMMV.
