If you were starting from nothing, is there an ideal set up to maximize ranging and ballistics solver capabilities? Yes, I'm the guy shooting the free Hornady 4DOF w/o a Kestrel on mostly KD ranges, but I'm now ready to get the full set up. I've used the Kestrel 5700 Elite and I'm now a believer in the AB software, but am open to other equally as capable software packages.
I've looked at various bino LRFs (BLRF) with AB, Geo Ballistics, etc built in, only to see it paired with a Kestrel 5700 Elite, which seems redundant as you're buying the same type software twice. I assume most use this combo because they already had one when they bought the other. I've read the many threads and like most things, there are serveral preferred BLRFs and to some degree the 'best' is a personal preference/value decision. If I get a Sig Kilo, for example, can/should i pair it with a Kestrel w/o the ballistic solver or is there another wx meter that can bluetooth link to the BLRF and provide density altitude input? Does the AB software on the BLRF allow for a large number of rifle profiles, i.e. like the 5700 Elite
Yes, price is somewhat of a consideration, but the overriding concern. I would like to increased capability while not buying the same capability on two different pieces of equipment.
Thanks in advance for any advice. I searched for a similar thread, but didn't find any. I apologize if this question has been asked recently
