If I had to sell a rifle, help me decide which one

I may need to sell a rifle. My wife is taking an accelerated batchelors of nursing course, and this summer was asked to take it a bit further than we had expected- and budgeted for.

There are 2 that would more than cover it. I have my own idea about which but tell me if my logic is sound. So far I don't shoot either in competition or hunt. Both are more just to have and play with.

I have a Les Baer AR15 patrolman carbine. I have put about 50 rounds total through it.

I also have a DPMS LR308 SASS with a lot of upgrades.

I am leaning towards selling the Les Baer if it becomes necessary. I think it is a lot more easily replaceable than the SASS. In fact I would probably go with a different manufacturer or build my own.
I think if I sell the SASS I would probably never buy anything similar to it. I may buy another bolt rifle, but this is a good rifle, and it is kind of neat having something a little different than most others at my range shoot.

Like I said- both are basically toys. I am 53 and am also facing the fact that I may never shoot long rangs or a long range match. I will probably never shoot a carbine match either.
The only match shooting I do are pistol matches and CMP/Garand rifle matches.

What do ya'll think?

Considering the increase in income your wife will make after graduating I would sell both in an effort to make her ability to succeed better. You will be able to replace them 10 fold with the increase in income

Re: If I had to sell a rifle, help me decide which one

Normally if I dn't use something for 6 mos I sell it.

But with rifles just ask yourself which one gives you the least amount of pleasure shooting?

I'd rather sell a testicle than my rifles though...

+1 on what ArticLight is saying.

Re: If I had to sell a rifle, help me decide which one

She is a certified surgery tech. not in a pediatric hospital and acting OR coordinator, and in charge several other areas. They told her that her position actually calls for an RN. She had an Associates degree so some transferred over. She started school then was invited to take the accelerated program. Now she is invited to do the perioperative course of study. This university's nursing program is hard enough just to be accepted. A student must be invited into the accelerated program and perioperative courses. She is acing the program. I am so proud of her I could bust.
I don't think I need to sell both. The only expense we didn't budget for is this extra course's tuition, books and fees. I am working all the overtime I can and have a couple of Mausers I haven't fired in years up for sale. If I can I will avoid having to sell either AR. If it is necessary I will do what I need to. I am not emotionally involved with either of them.

I would rather sell your testicles too, but you might put up too much of a fight.

Re: If I had to sell a rifle, help me decide which one

I'd sell the one that is the least useful to you. For me it would be the DPMS.

Re: If I had to sell a rifle, help me decide which one

I wouldnt sell the DPMS SASS you have all the extras in. Reason being I recently sold my DPMS I had about $4000 grand wrapped up in it and I only got $2500. You will never get what you have in that SASS.

Sell the other AR or start donating sperm or plasma.

They only pay about $75for sperm donations.....if you donate 5 times a day you could be there in a week or so

. Or the little lady could donate an egg and they pay about $4000. Just choose your option. No need to sell either, nor the testicle, though after 5 donations a day for a week they may be useless for a while.

The upgrades the SASS has are:
Timney AR10 trigger, Magpul ACS stock,PRI front tube, KNS pins,
Primary Weapons System FSC30 flashhider/comp, Buffertech short AR Restor hydraulic buffer, YHM bipod mount, upgraded chrome bolt carrier,LT-104 mount, Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 PA scope, Harris swivel 6”-9” bipod.

After going through the list I think I definitely should keep the SASS. I also think I need to take it out to play more.

I had forgotten, but I have some silver coins I could sell. I just need to find someplace that buys them at or near melt value. The coins I will sell are just '64, etc. pocket change. I have older coins that I will keep.

Re: If I had to sell a rifle, help me decide which one

I agree with you .Your logic is sound. To the guy who would sell a testicle,I would never do that,I need all three of them.

Re: If I had to sell a rifle, help me decide which one

Put them all in a closet. Tell yourself you don't own any guns but can afford to buy a few.

Open the closet door and 'Buy' yourself a few of the guns, based on what you'd really want to have, and which one you'd buy first, then next, etc.

When you get down to just a few left in the closet, you're probably getting really close to a good answer.

We are selling his testicles, not ours.

This is the best answer hands down, I was going to say it but he beat me to it and better.

I have been married to her for 22 years. I think it will be much easier to replace a rifle than find someone who would put up with me.

Not to mention child support, vagimoney....

It's cheaper to keep her....sell the testicle...

75 bucks a pop?
Paid in silver coins.
Free porn.
We could do it for the team!

Local barber charged a silver dime for a hair cut in the 80's.

Re: If I had to sell a rifle, help me decide which one

I'd hang on to the AR-15 patrolman for "when shit hits the fan" purposes.
