If you could only have one centerfire rifle to hunt with in north America, what would you choose?
1 gun, 1 caliber, 1 optic.

No swapping barrels or uppers

Surgeon long action sitting in a Manners stock in 300 Winchester Magnum. 4.5x14x50mm Leupold mil-dot scope. Will kill anything I need it to. If I only get one, I'm not worrying about recoil or finding ammo on the shelf.

If I had to get rid of everything and keep only one, it would be my Borden .300 Win Mag, sitting in a McMillan Game Scout stock, with a Jewel trigger and a Swarovski 3.5-18 scope. It’s taken plains game in Africa, bison in the States and everything in between.

Rem 700P LTR, 308, NF NXS 3.5-15. 110 grain for coyotes/varmints, 180 grain for the big stuff.

My dads - now mine Browning A-Bolt in .308.
Sentimental value is going to trump utility in this case.
I shot a 10 point whitetail with it yesterday morning

Anything in NA?

A 9-10 lb 300 wsm with some badass German glass. Hensoldt or Schmidt 3-12 etc.

My 1941 Winchester model70 30govt06 sporting a redfield 3-9 accurange. Killed a lot of animals with that rifle

North America, I would choose a Tikka 7mag with NF Atacr ‘s new reticle. I love my Tikka 6.5CM and I love my savage 7mag so may as well put them together.
Maybe should just consider a 30-06, don’t actually own one of them anymore.

I like this, very practical

My 20 inch tikka 260 in a MDT has been getting it done this deer season. I guess I'll stick with that. Its wearing a Steiner 4X16X56 and I'm shooting 143 ELDXs at 2710.

Mauser M18 in 30-06 topped with a Steiner M6Xi 1-6X

Stainless 70 crf LA
Proof 24”
30-06 (sadly I don’t even own one)
EH1
4-16-50 ATACR F1

A little more than a 308 but still able to load 110-240gr bullets. Think that would cover just about everything

Stewart built 6.5 SAUM, 3-12 LRHS, or, even better, a scope that doesn’t exist. Say a 3-12x42 or 4-16x42 AMG purpose built for hunting (reticle and turrets) weighing 20 oz.

What is the barrel length? Any idea of the weight without Cyke-pod and suppressor?

JCS Composite stock it weighs 28oz according to website, super light. and they are affordable.

Barrel is 22" good for pushing the 168's at 2740, the stiller action is a little heavy. And the scope weighs over 30 ozs. I have a lighter 2-10 if she doesn't need long shots. its a lb lighter.

Never weighed w/o suppressor but with loaded mag and no bipod with suppressor weighs 11 lbs. So right at 9 give or take empty/no supp.

I built it for my wife and I cant believe how effective it is on animals. She has gone on 3 trips and only fired it 3 times. Last animal was an antelope at 403 yds in a 15-20 cross wind. Very proud moment. All three rolled over. She being a better shot than me helps (that whole shot placement thing is real lol)

Regards,
DT

Rem 700 action, 308, in Elite Manners EH4 stock, NF NXS 3.5-15, suppressed, with proof barrel. Like someone said before, lightest grain bullets for coyotes and the bigger stuff for deer bigger game.

Blaser R8 300N Match Barrel 4-16x42 ATACR Mil-r Tier One 20 moa 6 screw rings TBAC 7 Ultra Berger 230 OTM 2910

My reasoning:

1) .2-.3 accuracy. Called L and R chest shots, one head shot 950 yards off backpack 3 rounds cold bore
2) short range/LR doesn’t matter, perfect animal presentation or extreme quartering penetration DRT
3) I hunt in extreme weather conditions and have had every other system fail during hunts except R8
4) I run into these bears on a regular basis. I want horsepower/penetration and quick follow up shots

Savage 112 Single Shot

6.5-284 Norma

Pacnor 26" Fluted Barrel

SWFA 3-15x

Black B&C M40 Stock

Timney Trigger

The action was originally my uncles. It was on his 220 Swift. It was his "crow gun". When he passed, I got the rifle. A month after he passed, I dusted a crow with it. Cool huh? I grew up shooting that swift. Loved it. The barrel was shot out and the stock was tupper wear. So I decided to upgrade everything and made a 6.5-284 Norma. Every time im behind that rifle, I feel my uncle with me. Very sentimental to me. It is my favorite rifle.

Dusted my very first (big) bobcat with it this year. 106 yards with a 143 ELD X. Bang, flop. Never moved. My uncle would have loved to see that.
