If you don't support gun control, you don't support law enforcement

If he said no they’d just have a dog show up and “alert”

I'm a bit confused with the video because its seems if he complied he would of been on his way without the search and hassle. Your rights are what the elites say they are because they write the laws and they are not written in favor of the non elites, its been like that through out history for thousands of years. "Constitutional Rights" now thats a funny one because even if you were a billionaire you wouldn't have enough money to defend those rights against the government if they so decide they had enough of your shit.

dui checkpoints are a bit different here because driving is considered a "privilege" and not a "right"...
Guilty until you prove your innocence. This is what these checkpoints are. They are disgusting. Don’t make excuses for the state. You have no rights anyhow. All you have is privileges allowed to you by the state. Ones you pay for through your taxes.

sure, but if you are in a state where you agreed to comply, i am not sure it should be included as part of the debate.
while i agree with your assessment of the practice, perhaps using it as part of the argument (against overreach) introduces an unnecessary weakness.

No, I really am not defending every cop with a broad brush. I specifically said I had no opinion on cops I don't know, and have never dealt with. They don't particularly treat me royally, but our sheriff and his predecessor have been two of the people leading the charge on both constitutional carry in my state, and in fed nullification, and, as I posted above, were clear that they would not be policing the state mandates on Covid. There are other things that I will not post here, which also give me confidence in them. I have also dealt with them personally.

I live in the ruralist of rural Montana. This isn't fucking Miami, and the sheriff in my area is actually advocating, in writing and in deed, for the exact opposite of what you are saying. We don't have rap concerts here. We don't really have criminals incidents outside of the occasional bar fight, and they are not called in for those. The biggest event in the area is a once yearly rodeo. Again, this isn't Miami, and the sheriff here isn't Art Acevedo. That is my entire point, that you can only judge them based on their policies or actions, not based on some dude that is six hours away by plane in a place I don't particularly enjoy visiting.

While I don't feel like engaging in black vs white, there are also exactly zero black people in my town. I believe there are 40 black people in my county, and it has an area of 2500 or so square miles. As far as I know, the homicide rate for them is exactly zero.

Now, I have lived other places with awful police, and, as I have said, I am sure as hell not going to defend them as an industry. But I wouldn't defend the entirety of any industry either, nor would I condemn the entirety of any industry. That would be ridiculous. That is my only point. It seems, frankly, bizarre that the only possible position to take on this forum is that all cops are totally bad. Take, for example, @pmclaine. I believe he is police. I also may have my disagreements with him, but I do not believe that he is out there looking to take away constitutional rights. I also don't believe he would run, M1 Garand in hand, into every ATF raid in his state like a one man QRF. That would be ridiculous. Have some sense. There are good and bad of everything. Cops, judges, military, bankers, machinists, whatever you are looking for, the population in that group is going to be decidedly mixed.

Oh God.....as I was.

You have chosen Barney Fife to place your hopes on I see.

I like Sheriffs in other parts of the country.

Here they have been denutted. Tom Hodgson is the only one trying to do something for his voters and actually does law enforcement. Generally Sherriff have no power here.

Realize the police are a product of the education system.

Im concerned for the future as retirements increase and we get an idea of what the education system is emphasizing now.

I remember my sixth grade teacher saying "You never let "them" touch the Bill of Rights, you never let "them" near it, ever!"

She said "them" in the manner she meant "those bastards" which would have been inappropriate circa 1980.

For all I know she was a full lib gobbling cock at Woodstock but that was the nature of Dems than.......the CIA and the FBI were the enemy and of course the cops were "pigs".

Now the CIA and FBI are their NKVD/GRU and because the police are so diverse jurisdictionally and could be resistant they need to be homogenized and federalized.

If you fear the police be as vocal as the side tearing them down in what you want your police to be.

There are more of you than there are cops........once again the many relying on the few.....

Where is my backup?

Why would the masses agree to comply with being stopped from freely traveling in order to prove their innocence to the state? Sounds like something that may have been “voted” on. Lol

It reminds me of when the police chief in my town tried to convince me that business owners were grateful and appreciative that the city and police would be enforcing a $1,000 fine if these same people didn’t tell their unmasked customers to leave their businesses. I told the chief he is full of it and to lie to somebody else.

when kids get their drivers license, they are too happy to sign whatever the clerk puts in front of them, including me when i was 16.

Like most freedoms that were lost.
The media and special interest groups beat the drums about how horrible "drunk drivers" are and if we only "gave the police the tools to deal with it," AKA give up your constitutional rights, the problem would go away.

Stupid sheeple and many of the so called "good" people all happily tossed their rights away "for the public good" and then the corrupt courts decided to be all compliant and say another exemption to the clearly written rules could be added in to make the government happy and you got what you begged for.

What actually wound up being the solution to the whole DUI thing was when Uber and Lyft and similar services made getting a ride quick, cheap and convenient. As noticed by some "police" types complaining about the drop in income due to not being able to extort people.

You'll find the police often pushing the bounds and trying to make fake DUI roadblocks to do some other law enforcement purpose that they don't have permission to do, but figure if they hide it the stupids will comply.

Needless to say, I'm not a fan...

Yep. He thought the police were on his side and when the officer asked if there was a firearm in the car he said there was one in the trunk.
Damn. I won’t even make a sound. Hand over the license and do not acknowledge anything else the officer says. I ram it into my wife and children’s heads to never under any circumstance speak to a cop. Not one word.

there is a video that has been out for years, perhaps many of them, with a guy explaining why you should never talk to the police without a lawyer present, even if, and maybe especially if you have done nothing wrong.

I had called the police one day and they actually got a little pissed that when asked if we could go inside to talk I said no and closed my door as I stepped outside.
I know all out officers, but I'm still not letting anyone in our home unless they are family.

Back to the original post... wouldn't it be more prudent to just make murdering someone illegal, regardless of the manner?
Been married for 40 years if I would of murdered someone I would of been out living free for the past 33 years already, punishment is not just.

On all days, the day we remember the sacrifice many made for this nation, and what is this nation if not her bill of rights.

We need to make it as painful as possible to crap on citizens rights, I wish folks would protest those officers homes, sue them for any possible thing, call for them to be fired, harass their kids at school, wife at work, refuse to serve them when they go out, etc. Cops should be scared to crap on people’s rights, these anti 4A checkpoints should be impossible to staff because your officers should call in sick before manning them.

Fuck compliance with tyrants

Granted you are 100% correct I'm just looking at it as a realist. The squeaky wheel gets the oil , look at BLM made a lot of "fuss" which they were given exemption from any prosecution for any of laws they broke. Gun control marches on because no fuss have ever been raised since 1776 due to laziness I guess.

maybe constitution folks need to learn from what people with far lesser causes have proven as “good methods”, albeit less burning and stealing TVs lol

We are fast coming up on the fork in the road where "just obey the law" will cease to be part of doing what is good, right and decent.
Many who think themselves "good" may have a hard time when they are forced to pick only one of those two options. Others already know it's coming and what path they will take.
My good friend we have been past that many many miles ago.......

My good friend we have been past that many many miles ago.......

Yes and no. People think we are, but right now both roads are still kind of side by side with the lane markers clearly labeled with solid lines between the two. The actual firm barricaded fork where the two lanes veer hard in opposite directions is still coming I think. Those who haven't fully made up their mind, are likely to crash into the barricades trying to flip at the last moment.

Your average street cop opposes gun control.
Your chiefs and other high ranking cops who do support gun control are playing kiss ass, for their political careers.
So average cop- like the ones across the nation the Supremes just had to remind couldn’t steal your shit without a warrant; those guys- well good I thought they were just stealing shit mostly firearms cause they didn’t get the memo .
this is why the right/ “gun folk” will loose still way to much hero worship no matter how many times they fuck us.

What is Art Acevedo's record for seeing that violent felons arrested in possession of a firearm are actually prosecuted and found guilty?

Related, while in Houston a few times he threatened to make public the judges that were releasing violent offenders back onto the streets right after their arrest, bonding them out for little or nothing, but never came through.

If only the shooter that killed Sgt. Harold Preston had been dealt with on any number of prior encounters. That happened under Acevedo's watch.

It's interesting to note that one of the first things Acevedo talked about after the botched 2019 Houston drug raid was to call for more gun control. It seems that leopard just can't change his spots.

Here's a link to an article in Texas Monthly that talks about why and how he made the jump to Miami - Why Is Art Acevedo Leaving Houston?

So, punish everyone for the actions of these few?
Would he like me to take that stance for him?

R

Punish would imply we the people did something wrong, we did not, in fact it was state who has proven time and time again that they can’t be trusted to protect their citizens.

Heck, the quote I posted on here clearly shows police are way more likely to commit crime than CCWs 😂

Usually when they ask you to step outside you're closer to "...STOP RESISTING! YOU'RE GONNA GET TASED!" than "Sorry we bothered you. Have a nice day."

Common sense is there's a reason they want you to step outside to 'talk to you' when they could talk to you perfectly fine through the screen door.

It’s the same thing with any hoodlum that wants you to leave the security of your home or vehicle, “hey bro, just got a question for you, can you come outside”

9.9/10 it’s not for your benefit.

In most states, every time you purchase a firearm, you're checked out via NICS. In 2017, 112,000 people failed the check and were denied the purchase. Only 10% were investigated, and only 12 people were prosecuted. I'm sure a whole bunch more should have been charged. Why aren't they enforcing the laws already on the books? Seems like a better idea than just making more laws that they're not gonna enforce too...........

Every time this bag of dicks would remind viewers of that in Real Stories of the Highway Patrol I wanted to tell him, "Ok, try telling that to your superiors when they ask why you can't get to your shift because you don't have a vehicle and driving isn't a necessity of being an independent adult but a privilege."

Why would they fix a problem they monopolize on?

Gov just wants more power, nature of the beast, disarming folks gives them more power.

Disarming the American people is much harder without good marketing, the state needs these criminals who “just slip through the cracks” to do criminal things so they can get in front of a mic and try to sell more troops and less rights

Why do they count suicides? That seems really lame.

The disarm America folks be like
