So, I placed a simple order for two Ruger BX25 magazines (for a Ruger 10/22) a couple of days before Christmas. They were expecting the order would ship on 12/28/12 at the time that I ordered.

I called Midway today, since the order has not shipped as of this time. They're now predicting that this order isn't going to ship until mid-March, due to the fact that they apparently have 24,000 backorders of these magazines ahead of me. For a .22lr magazine!

Times are certainly strange at the moment, and I know my experience isn't unique on this at all. Still, it's amazing to me to think that the panic buying frenzy has made things so incredibly hard to get... Pmags I kind of expected. Magazines for a .22lr, not so much.

I do wish Midway's backorder status would have been a bit more accurate (instead of off by 3-months), but I'll just sit on the order for now and hope that it arrives sometime before next summer. I'm sure glad I already had most of what I needed on hand around here.

Midway has put a veritable shit ton of items on "Out of Stock - No Backorder" in the last 24 hours.

I have been told by MidwayUSA that this was requested by manufacturers to allow them to produce more product and replenish depleted stocks due to unbelievable demand the last few weeks.

LOL!!!! 24000!!! LOL!!!!

Coloradocop, that sucks dude! you would think 10/22 stuff would not be on the tactical mall ninja's list but...times are strange. 24000th in line is hilarious to me. If it was my order i probably would get a chuckle out of it, but still be pissed...i hope you can find some humor in it though...

Well I'd be more than happy to buy 3or 4 from you if you wanted to grab some .

I went to 3 major gun shops today and all 3 were out. I never would have thought a .22lr mag would be out as well. I was going to order from Midway today and become 24001, but they are not taking orders.

Yeah, the whole thing surprised me too. Even in the middle of the last AWB/Magazine ban I was still able to find "high capacity" .22lr magazines at reasonable enough prices ($20-25/each). Now they're legal (at least currently), and they're impossible to find.

Not the end of the world for me or anything, but it is a bit shocking.

That will learn you to not order form a site that half of the gun toting population uses. Gotta find a smaller but not mom and pop dealer to order from. That way your not 23245255467 in line.

I can understand the tacticool stuff, but 458 Wim Mag????

I spent two days searching the internet for 458 WM brass, finely found some pricey stuff, but if you need it, you got to pay.

I thought sure my older Ruger M-77 458 WM was pre-ban

I heard a rumor that govt. agencies were placing bulk orders on stuff like ammo and accessories through accounts having nothing to do with the procurement of arms. I wish I had a link to the article.

I think it's hit or miss either way. I've ordered from small shops in the past, only to be told that they weren't getting resupplied by the manufacturers as quickly as the larger shops.

I guess I see it like this: I can use the magazines, but won't die without them. I don't need the magazines RIGHT NOW, though faster is obviously always better than slower with any order. So, I placed my backorders at an appropriate price point, and I'll just wait and see what happens. If the magazines aren't banned, they'll eventually show up at my door, and I'll use them. If the magazines are banned I'll hope that my backorder is high enough in line to be filled before the effective date of any new legislation. If a new law is passed to ban these items before I get them, then I guess I'll just go without.
