What is the approximate total cost, to import a new bolt-action rifle from Germany to the USA - without any glass ?

Assume the rifle costs $9,000 USD in Germany (after euro to dollar conversion). 1.45 (yuck)

You also have to pay the following:

Air freight from Germany to the importer
insurance
brokerage fees
customs fees
importers fees
air freight to dealer - $75.00

What else ?

Anybody know an excellent importer who works with a Form 6, and has reasonable out the door fees (including the brokerage) ?

What is the approximate total cost (no local tax) ?

I think you will need a signed form by big brother BATF in order for you to bring it in the US. Of course, all other fees that you mentioned are applicable. I would contact the BATF office near you to inquire.

I would find a Firearms importer and ask if they can receive it and what you need to do. They should know everything that needs to be done.

I know about the VAT - thanks
yes, Form 6 - you are correct.
yes, the importer will receive the rifle.

The licensed importer is aware of the fees. I imported a rifle about five years ago, and I obtained quite a few additional fees, that I did not expect.

What is the U.S. Customs fees for a new rifle ?

Thanks,

I would like to get approval first.

In addition, I am not sure I want to do this. The exchange rate is brutal - 1.45 euro to 1 dollar.

The other big concern is all the additional fees, that I mentioned. It may be another $2,000.00 with the taxes, air freight, and brokerage fees.

I posted in a desire, to obtain information from others, who recently imported a rifle from Germany or elsewhere in Europe. Hopefully, they could give me an itemized break-down of all of the fees they paid.

Thanks for your interest.
