IMR 8133-6.5 saum...

I went to Hodgdon's load page, not much on it, but in 338 Lapua, the charges were similar to Retumbo. This is just my opinion, even though the 6.5 saum may be slightly more over bore, the trend should carry down to the saum. Slow powders shine, I think starting at 60 gr and working up should be safe.

The new Hodgdon annual reloading " Magazine " has a pretty good article about the 6.5 PRC showcasing the new IMR 8133.

Not the 6.5 SAUM but similar, They talk about that powder quite a bit. Seems to give the same kind of velocity gain like the Reloader 26 does.

And there is alot of new data for 8133 in other cartridges. I know it's not specific to your caliber but it is some new info on 8133

I was thinking of using 8133 in my 7 SAUM ended up using RL26

Was looking at some of those other cartridges and the 8133 give significant velocity gains over the other powders in that burn range

Well I started at 58 gr 8133 worked up to 65.5 a half grain at a time no pressure signs at all, 66gr blew a primer...So I dropped back to 64.5 gr, first two no problem third blew another primer! All pockets were tight when seated...Accuracy was 1 hole at 130 yds with the 64.5 gr load...Any clues?

You can't blow primers and survive, back it down more. What were your speeds, you should always chrono test loads?

I did Chrono all loads from the start. Went from 2830 to 3179 at 66 gr. 64.5 grain loads averaged at around 3100, which is still below what I was getting with H1000.

8133 is a slower burn rate than both H1k and Retumbo. Pressures should be lower than those two all else being equal.

What brass and how many times fired? What chamber and throat length?

Vihtavuori N565 is working pretty well for me. To let everyone know..
