Re: IMR 8208 XBR and the .308 Win
I've been fooling with it and love it. I've done some load ups with 155 grain Nosler CCs (J4), Winchester brass, and CCI BR2 primers.
Starting out I worked up from 44.5 to 46 grains, with 46 being way too hot. One primer pierced. I settled in on 45.6 grains and did some seating depth testing, after which I tried it out at 720 yards and shot way over the target. My chronograph gave me extremely consistent numbers, and once I got on paper at 400 yards my dope said the velocity was right at 3,000 fps out of a 20" barrel, which is impressive if not extremely dangerous. I had bad ejector wipe on every case, so I stopped shooting them. I'm going to back down to the lower node that I found at 44.8, which from all of my research is a common charge.
