I have the new Nosler, Hornady, Sierra, Lyman, etc.. reloading books and all the info in them is pretty basic and seems to be oriented for begginers. What reloading manuals go into more depth?

.. but only if you can handle his "style" of writing...

I was fortunate to be recommended The "Precision reloading and Shooting Handbook" by Fred Sinclair and bill Gravett... and even luckier to pick one up used from the 6mmbr forums for less than $20. Not sure when it was printed but mine is the 9th edition.

It has everything you need to know and more

Re: In Depth Reloading Books

Title: Sinclair International's Precision Reloading & Shooting Handbook 10th Edition
Author: Bill Gravatt, Fred Sinclair,
Release: 1999
Format: Spiral-bound 167
Publisher: Sinclair International
UPC: B001EJDAH6

That book has no loads, just the process and equipment.
It is accuracy technique oriented.

By the time I got that book, I had slowly and painfully already learned all those techniques and about that equipment.

I don't know if the book would have meant anything if I read it when I was starting out. Maybe I would not have been ready for it. Maybe I need more pain first.

Here's one:

The Precision Shooting Reloading Guide

By: Precision Shooting Columnists - Edited by: Dave Brennan
Price: $22.95 (5 1/2" x 8 1/2 " Spiral Bound - 284 pages)

A reloading manual like no other, now in its forth printing. Chapters authored by champion shooters on: Reloading for Extreme Accuracy, Highpower (Bolt Guns), Highpower (Gas Guns), Benchrest, Magnums, Wildcats, Cast Bullets, and working up an accuracy load. NOTE tells how to reload; does not give loads for individual cartridges.

They have several other books that might be interesting, as well:

THE MILITARY AND POLICE SNIPER, by Mike Lau

The Complete Guide to AR-15 Accuracy
By: Derrick Martin and Barrett Tillman

THE BENCHREST PRIMER

RIFLE ACCURACY FACTS
By: Harold Vaughn

Precision Shooting at 1,000 Yards

New Exact Small Arms Ballistics

ACCURIZING THE FACTORY RIFLE

Re: In Depth Reloading Books

I have Ziedikers "Handloading for Competition", "The Benchrest Shootiing Primer", P.O. Ackley's "Handbook(s) for Shooters and Reloaders", Warren Page's "The Accurate Rifle", "The Ultimate in Rifle Accuracy", "Accurizing the Factory Rifle" and the "Precision Shooting Reloading Guide."

They are interesting and all have some scattered bits of meat but it can be hard to find what each of us may need out of the tons of chaff we don't need. BUT, the last, described by nicholst55 above, Precision Shooting's excellant guide book is a treasure, it's a literal banquet of good info! It's NOT useless "chatter", it's all to the point and clearly written in eight segments of reloading by specialists in each area. It's a VERY good book for anyone seeking to better understand the principles and practices of accurate reloading and I highly reccommend it.

Now, I'm still looking for a used copy of Fred Sinclaire's book ...

You mean the first one he mentioned? The Precision Shooting Reloading Guide

The last one he talked about was Accurizing the Factory Rifle.

Re: In Depth Reloading Books

Anyone have a source for Sinclair International's Precision Reloading & Shooting Handbook 10th Edition? I can't find it anywhere, not even Sinclair's site.

Re: In Depth Reloading Books

Some books are all dried up in the network of used book stores on line.

You have to wait for one to become available.

"You mean the first one he mentioned? The Precision Shooting Reloading Guide"

No I meant the last one I mentioned. Which was in fact the first one he mentioned.

I got mine by posting a WTB on the 6mmbr forum.. it's very informative but as CLARK pointed out.. not for newbies to reloading (I just mention that if a newbie reads this post and thinks the Sinclair book is "the one to get")

Re: In Depth Reloading Books

I've been looking through the old PR&SH, and the only thing I see that a newbie should be shielded from is case weighing, as should the rest of us. Half of the material describes tools, and the other half describes basic practices. Need to know may be necessary to security, but it's a lousy practice otherwise. I don't see much value in ignorance.
