In Germany for the week!

So I have been in Nuremberg for a few days for work and have made some acquaintance here. We have seen the castle and turrets around the circle and are going to the marching grounds tonight. The people are nice but Socialism sucks ass. Petrol is expensive and taxes are crazy. I did find a gun shop but it appears it is next to impossible to own a firearm here. If someone has been here and can provide some places to check out close by let me know.

I had some of the local food such as sausage and kraut along with a few other things. I could not bring myself to try the pig tongue or the pig knuckle! Really overpopulated around the city locally though.

The arm had been built for a man named Goetz von Berlichingen, an Imperial Knight under the service of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I. During the battle of Landshut in 1505, a cannonball struck Goetz in the arm and severed it clean off. However, the steel craftsmen of Nuremberg, who were already renowned for producing precision timepieces, gunlocks, and extremely accurate hunting and competition rifles, had a solution for Goetz that absolutely delighted him and enabled him to continue his one true passion in life: riding horses and leading armies into battle. A career military man, even at the age of 80, Goetz was still wearing full plate armor and leading the forces of the empire against the invading Ottoman Turks in Hungary.

Try to utilize the trains. A lot cheaper then driving everywhere. Or just walk if possible. Taxis are expensive as hell.

Go to the Hauptmarkt area. The restaurants around there are good. Take the train from Nurnberg to Munich. About 1.5 hrs each way. Very scenic. If you have time, take the train from Munich to Garmisch and ride the Zugspitzebahn. Gorgeous.

Pig knuckle and pork shoulder are excellent. Nothing weird or exorbitant. The warm potato salad ? That's a different story ?

I have a company rental car so no worries about the travel but I am limited on time. I had to learn to ask for ice in my coke.....the cokes have different sweetener.

The women are hot but I can't talk with them!!lol We went to a Irish pub at the circle downtown last night and had a burger. Couldn't find any American beer so I tried a Heineken. It wasn't bad but has an after taste.

The Mercedes museum is just incredible. Day trip to Berchtesgaden and eagles nest. Stelvio pass.

That's all fine and dandy, but still nowhere near as cold as her being in the lineup of Allied Nations whom were greeting the Queen of England for all fighting together during WWII. She actually put herself in that lineup as well. So yeah, shake 'n bake.

If you can speak no German, they can't speak or understand any English.

If you make even the most pathetic attempt to say anything at all in their native language, you will get every word of English they know, and all Germans have taken several years of English as a required course in school.

Spent two years ('82-'84) in Frankfurt. Found the "older" Germans were very likable and willing to communicate with you, if you try, they will try harder and don't be surprised if you are invited to their table and do a little "partying" with them. Even if you can't speak a word of German, you WILL get to know them. The "younger" one's, that was a different story. Enjoyed my time there. Prost! Mac

The King George Brothel in Berlin opens at 4 PM, Monday through Sunday, excluding the Christmas holidays. For $135, you can stay there until dawn, drinking and play as much as you can handle. Yea next to a beer garden .
Hohenschwangau, southwest Bavaria: Neuschwanstein Castle (Schloss Neuschwanstein) would be neat to see
Berlin: Erholungspark Marzahn water park sort of has water features fountains .

Take a short train ride to Wurzburg and visit Waffen Franconia. Great outdoor and hunting store.
