Unfortunately, I live in Seattle. I must therefore, make the trek to La La land on an average of twice a month to get my Jewish deli fix. Upside is that I get hotel stays/points, rental car points, credit card points and airline miles. This is why I don't retire.
But a Philly deli ? pffftt....there's no competition on the left coast for that.....

You really need to listen to a podcast that Glenn Beck did with Michael Rectenwald. He is a NYU professor who used to be a post modern communist and is now a free market person. He discusses post modernism in depth and what effects it has on our society from his perspective as a defector to the conservative "side". He specifically goes into education and recommendations for how to avoid this happening to your children. VERY valuable info.

Me and my ex best friend since 7 grade have not spoken since 2016. Anti gunner and white guilt guy trying point out my racist tendencies when i used statistics based in fact against his bullshit.
And my grandparents and i are not on the best terms. They helped raise me. They are in their 80’s born dirt poor dirt farmers go to church every time the door opens don’t believe in gay marriage or abortion. Worked harder than any people ive ever seen. And they built a multigenerational family business that does $100 million in sales annually. But by god mr.roosevelt gonna save us all. I call em song of the south democrats. Its like ccn msnbc have a formula to brain wash old people. They watch the news nonstop.
Same with my other grandma who is 86. This woman hated bill clinton thought he ws scum. The funniest thing is when ted cruz was relevant back in 2013 or so she would seeth every time he came on tv. All this happened yafter her stroke and a bad fall hip replacement. ordeal god bless her. She is in assisted living WE laugh about it. Proves someone hs to be mentally ill to buy tht shit.

My concern is CWII will create a situation for other countries to interject power before we get it settled out. My wife and I plan for the worst but hope for the best as most of you do but if the military gets involved on our soil there is not much cover from some of those weapons. If other countries get involved on our soil the same rule applied. I would welcome the IDF for assistance though....some of those girls are HOT!!!!

I am very sorry to hear this my friend. You have my sympathy and unfortunately, my understanding.
My oldest daughter is of this ilk. What is worse, I have trained her to operate a weapon with frightening accuracy. Fortunately, she does not know how to manufacture ammunition, nor figure her own DOPE.
She was feeling the Bern back in 2016. She is now a self described "Nazi Hunter". Just repeating this shit is making me cringe. I learned of this activity when a deputy sheriff showed up at the house to serve papers on her. She doesn't live on my place anymore, and the deputy was nice enough to fill in the particulars.
I told my current wife(not her mother, it's a long sad story), "You know she is currently a huge liability should things go really sideways in this country?"
I've gone through the usual "where did I go wrong" "I'm a shitty father" business. I never wanted her to go to a liberal college, but she did. She wasn't raised this way.
Anyway, it seems conflict is innevitable and some of us will have some bitter pills to swallow.
"What would you do" has nearly become "what will you have done."
So horrible to contemplate the set of circumstances that is leading us towards a national precipice, yet here we are.
I pray for you and those like us, and I pray even harder for our misguided children and theirs to come.

In the last civil war there were many families that had people fighting on both sides, I expect it will be the same next time.
I would say however that from my experience, and observations, it seems those on the more freedom loving, constitution supporting, conservative side seem to be the ones most able to put stuff together and figure things out and setup stuff for themselves without having it handed to them.
A lot of the grumpy old men on the conservative side excel in planning & actually setting up correct gear from scratch as well as being able to work out how to do the more difficult shots / engagements. A lot of the left wing side are good if you put an AK in their hands and tell them to march forward in waves.... as it has ever been with the Communists.

I hear you, and believe me when I say that "I can appreciate the depth of your commitment". That being said, I will only add this one point to contemplate:
In the due process of "preparing to live well one day in the future" don't forget to ALSO live (and enjoy) life today. That is not to say "party with abandon", but that is just a reminder that you're still alive today, too.
One of my standing jokes around here, has been "I'm thinking about taking up Buddhism. Simply because they believe in reincarnation, and then maybe my NEXT life will be a good one."
