I have a thread here, which is describing a situation that my Lady is in. She is/has had a reaction of sorts to the glue on this tape, and we're afraid more than a month and a half later, that it might be permanent.

And on THAT note, we're not quite sure what to do next. If anyone is interested, check out that thread (I put it there, as I figured more would see it due to 'fitness' interests, and whatnot) and add your input and/or experience.

I don't know of anyone who had a reaction to tape adhesive before, let alone these issues after using it for more than a month and a half. Intermittently, as per required.

Sure could use some others insight though, as we're sure all you medically experienced folk know something of which we're asking.

    Thanks.

    Sean.

I got drunk and ended up with a strip of gorilla tape on my ass. It wasn't fun the next day pulling it off my shaggy bum.

I had the tape you described used on my leg/knee. It left a mark but it faded.

Sean, I cant comment on the tape but I have found that this works really well for skin problems. I cant say it will work for you, though it has helped me a bunch. but it cant hurt and its a small investment. I bought the cream which is in the short black bottle on the right side of the ad. I bought a 4 oz. jar and it goes a long way. I feel certain they will ship it to Canada but if not let me know and Ill pickyou up a bottle and mail or FedEx it to you. Hope she feels better shortly. Check the testimonials.

I have to ass_u_me that effectively the pores on her back have been clogged full of the adhesive which then prohibits the skin from doing what it does. Therefore the itch is related to the body's efforts to reject / expel the foreign matter.

How is she doing on fluids? More water = good.

Also - putting goo (of any kind) on the area may be counter productive. If the body is trying to reject something out of the pore, slathering more shit on it may not be the best.

Using your hands to gently stretch the skin in multiple directions to get the pores open while the skin is exposed to a warm shower *might* be more productive.

Regardless, seems like you need to speak to a dermatologist.

    Good luck

ETA - I equate this to some bad sunburns I have had - where several layers of dermis were killed off, yielding an intense painful and itchy condition that lasted for weeks. Topical dressings really don't do much and the only dermis that is saved is on the periphery of the wound. The best relief to me in that situation is not some much a scratching of the area - but a slapping of the area. It already hurts and itches at a level to drive you insane but the slapping resets your brain for a few seconds. It is a long 3 or so weeks.

    Everyone, and Mike,
Thank you for your replies so far, as any discourse helps us here. Mike, specifically, your rendition makes the most sense (in retrospect) and the 'treatment' is definitely of an interesting nature.

Do you have any suggestions as to the leading cause of this 'pore-plugging-glue-release'? We had been using the tape in that area for about a month and a half, (intermittently) using the 4 days on/4 days off protocol.

And then all the sudden, nuclear fission on her back with this (more than 2 months later) aftermath.

We hadn't used anything else ie. solvent, cream, ointment or anything, and I'm just concerned, is all. And want to get to the bottom of this, so that it NEVER happens again.

For us, or ANYONE else. Thank you again, seriously.

In a perfect world, we'd just walk into a dermatologist office, and say "yo dude, what's this" whilst pointing at her back. Alas, the social medicine that we DO have up here does/would require a referral from our doctor (wait for his appointment) then such be processed by the specialist (wait for processing) then schedule an appointment in the future (wait for appointment, generally months in itself). This is what brung me here, to simply ask ya'll, as there are so many wide and varied experiences as well as professions represented here.

As opposed to me doing my doctoring from the interweb, to which I'd be diagnosing dengue fever with a side of diphtheria, added to a dollop of Dextrocardia on the side.

    (see what I did there?)

    Sean,

It may not help much but if they are a US company you should be able to get an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for the product. That is unless they claim it to be a trade secret. This sheet might give you a little more direction on what is in it and then might help you search out some additional ways of offsetting the symptoms.

Sean - the Canuk style Obama care thing.....

Again, I am not a Doc but I'd encourage you to think about it in terms of a chemical burn. I research the web for info related to mild chemical burns and the treatment thereof.

    Sorry to to you both.

    Good luck
