Overheard some gentleman saying that doing load development at an indoor range differs from that of doing it at an outdoor range where you will be shooting the majority of the time. What is your opinion of that?

Possibly....no.
Maybe the environmentals temp etc. in your ballistic calc.
But groups/nodes are the same.
Take a accurate load up 5000 DA and it’s still a accurate load.

IMO

Not true.. You want to record environmentals when you zero or do load development but my load is just as accurate when its 0*F at 2000' Elevation as it is at 100*F at 5000', or indoor at 72*F.

Only thing I can think of being a issue would be if you work a load up via group size. Since there is 0 wind indoors that could help aid in the group size method? I use SD/ES for load development so I don't worry about the wind much during my tests

Word of caution for indoor load development.

It takes away any bs excuses for your groups!
Any shanked shot is all you, 1 out of five is my norm truth be told.
4 shots @ 3/4 to 1/2 moa and then the shank 1-1.25 total, humiliated again.

It can speed up the development time and save a longer range day for better weather.
Saves on rounds down the tube. I think gives an excellent base to work from.
