Moose,

A Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20x50 # 5214509943 sells for around $1k new so $690. seems to be a very fair price.

The scope your looking @ has a 1" tube, and Mildot reticle with Hunting turrets. Just what the Zeiss catalog shows. If you like it, buy it.

Re: Info on Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20x50 MC

I have two of those scopes with the target turrets and the Mil-Dot Reticle. I like both of the scopes. I shoot the two rifles from 0 to 600 yards. The tracking has worked perfectly so far on both scopes at those distances. Both are on ground hog rigs that I do not shoot past 600 yards with.

As far as negatives are concerned. For that price I can not think of any. I also have the same Leupold you are talking about. And I definitely think the Zeiss is better glass. Both optically, and tracking. And my comparison is against the LR Leupold. However my Leupold has the VH reticle, and I definitely prefer the VH reticle over the Mil-Dot. However that could be attributed to the fact that I am not the best at Mil-Dots, and I use an LRF-so Mil Dots serve no purpose in reality to me.

I personally think the price is a bit high. If you look one inch below this post you will see an advertisement for CameraLand. Last time I checked he had that scope for sale(sample scope) for only $50 more. And from him you know exactly what you are getting. If the fellow reduced the price another $100 then it would be a good buy, if not then I would buy from Doug. Tom.

Check with Doug @ CameralandNY.com if you want a Zeiss. The last Zeiss I bought from him was a Conquest, 6.5-20x50 with target turrets and mil dot reticle. I was thinking it was $699, but after thinking about it for a while, I believe it was actually $599. These scopes are called "demos", but they are 100% as new, including lifetime warranty. I would check and see if he still has those, I am pretty sure he does. I would definitely look there before paying anywhere near retail for a Conquest. He has been doing that for years.

I had one. I sold it. I didnt like the left hand threaded knobs. They are oposite of everyone else. Basically with most scope you want your bullet to go down you turn clockwise and the knob goes down. With the Zeiss you have to turn counterclockwise. It had great glass though. I had the z-plex reticle which I thought I would like but didnt. I prefer a mildot or similar. That is my only two complaints about the scope. Other then that is was good.

Re: Info on Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20x50 MC

FWIW, I just got in a box of samples from some Zeiss reps (Zeiss just switched over from independant reps to a rep group and the independants sold me their samples). I have two of the Conquest 6.5x20x50 #521451-9943 with hunting turrets that I can offer out at $699.99, shipped. I saw them come in the day before I went on vacation last week and I'll be back at the store tomorrow. Nobody receives the samples in the store but me so they are for sure still there. If you're interested please give me a shout and it's yours. Boxed, full warranty

The optics are fantastic. Zeiss Conquest tracks perfectly. For that price point, it's no big deal to send it in to Zeiss $120ish to get turrets installed if you want them. Mildot is the standard 3.6" @ 100 yards on 10x.

For that price, you simply cannot go wrong. They're the best scopes you can get before you step up to the serious high end tactical scopes.

Re: Info on Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20x50 MC

I recently bought a Zeiss 6.5X20 with the plex from a Ebay vender that sells tons of Zeiss and has 99.9 feedback. I get the scope, open the box and it has VERY faint ringmarks. There is also wear on every corner of the knobs. I complained and he swore that all his stuff was new from Zeiss. I called Zeiss and read them the serial number of my scope and was shocked to hear this: Zeiss sells their "returns" as new scopes. They get a scope back from a retailer such as Cabela's or Bass Pro and check it over and if it passes for new they send it out as new! Yep, mine was a "return". The lady from Zeiss said "oh we don't sell refurbished scopes, your scope is a return". Duh.

I would say my "new" Zeiss scope has been mounted in on of those rifle stocks they have for folks to look through and the knobs have been twisted by every 14 year old that has walked by. Ugh. So check over that new Zeiss wherever you buy it from. It might be a return scope.

Its still a nice scope but I was amazed to find out how they handle their stock.

Re: Info on Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20x50 MC

Wow, refurbished....return... retarded sound like to me. I would be kinda pissed. Do the sell condoms too. Dont think I want a returned condom lol.

Re: Info on Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20x50 MC

Cameralands demos are from trade shows. They have not been sold, used, mounted etc. Some may have been handled by trade show attendees like the NRA annual meeting or Safari Club but never used. Most have never been take out of th box you get as a demo. So buy in confidence..I have two of them..6.5-20x50MD and a 4.5-14x50.

Re: Info on Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20x50 MC

I just bought a demo pair of Zeiss Victory range finder binoculars from Camera Land. The display was pretty weak (hard to read) so I called Camera Land and was told just to return the item and they would exchange it for another. The same day I was on the phone with Karen at Zeiss warranty repair to discuss an unrelated issue. She spoke highly of Doug and Camera Land. Karen told me just to send them back to her and she would swap them out for a brand new pair (unopened) from their inventory. Kind of hard to go wrong.
