There is a huge thread on this here already that answers about 90 percent of your questions....
So might want to merge this into the existing thread... and we can fill in the holes there, rather than in two places.
I think a number of the pictures you posted have been in that thread as well.
Mk 13 Mod 0 thread... lots of info on Alan Brown and Crane and details from the folks who built them and a few who used them.

SIrhr, thanks, I found your posts on that thread informative, and I edited and moved my post to that thread as well. Hopefully someone can provide additional knowledge re what years certain permutations occurred in the "pre-Mk 13" era....
