Considering the 6.5x284 is cleaning up on the 1000yd matches [where ballistics are very critical], I can think of no better gun for deer-caribou out to as far as you should be shooting. With the right bullets I wouldn't shy away from elk when carrying the 6.5x284 either.

I'm currently in the process of working up a load for my New Beanland 6.5x284. Pushing 140gr Bergers 2950-3100 with H1000 never found pressure before the case was too full to seat the bullet. Looks like my load is going to be a shade over 3000fps. Plug those numbers into your ballistic calculator and check it out for yourself. Pretty Salty.
