I find myself in the middle concerning glass. I would love to have another USO 3.2-17 Tpal but it ain't happening right now.

Midrange with respect to price.

My rifle is a Savage 12 VLP with .308 and .223 barrels.

I looked at the Horus Hawk but decided to pass, base in part on some of the comments here.

Next are the Pride Fowler scopes. I like the 10x RR800-2 if the parallax will adjust down to 10 yards or so (but it probably won't). Second choice in the PF line is the 3-9x42 model, same reticle.

Then I happened on Meopta. They have a reticle listed as #4b.
Reminds me of a similar ComBloc reticle available a few years back. Works on .5 meter target height.

The Pride Fowler scopes are priced reasonably at Smith Enterprises for $595 (3-9x 30mm tube) and $635 (10x 30mm tube) but I would have to figure out (or ask) what the reticle subtentions are so I could rangefind with it. Not a bid deal but the holderover marks seem functional without being too busy.

The Meopta scopes are $680 (3-12x50 30mm) and $450 (fixed 6x 1" tube).

This seems to me to be the best out there in the $500 - $800 price range. Input, suggestions are welcome.

Re: Input on my midrange glass choices.

Out of the ones mentioned, Meopta all the way. For $800-ish I'd definititely suggest the Sightron SIII 6-24x50MD or a SIII 3.5-10x50 you could save some money and go with a Vortex Viper with a mil-dot reticle. FWIW

Re: Input on my midrange glass choices.

If saving/waiting isn't currently in your vocabulary, I'd also recommend the Sightron SIII, Vortex Viper 6.5-20x, SWFA SS 3-9x, or a used Leupold Mark4.

Yeah, I'm probably going to hold for a while. I had the Viper 6.5-20 BDC. Great glass but their wasn't enough eye relief out past 10x or so.

Thanks for the input guys.
