I am new to this forum but have been reading threads and researching scopes for my Larue OBR for a while and would appreciate some specific thoughts/input from fellow members. I have decided that I want an H58/H59 reticle and have narrowed the list of scopes as follows.

Initially, I was set on a Leupold Mark 6 3x18 and have read that the glass quality is good but the turrets can be mushy. There have also been a few members with quality issues but good customer service in general. For an additional $1,000 I could upgrade to the USO ER-25 with greater magnification, illumination, etc. For an additional $500 I could upgrade from the USO to a Nightforce Beast would likely have slightly better turrets and overall build quality. However, for the price of a Beast - the S&B PM II is not far out of reach.

So, the primary questions I have currently are.

1. Is the quality/functionality of the USO worth the additional price of the Leupold?
2. Is there a significant quality difference between the USO and Nightforce that I haven't identified yet?
3. Would anyone really prefer the Nightforce Beast over an S&B PM II?
4. Any other recommendations?

I appreciate the thoughts and input.

The mark 6 is a great optic and in my experience did not think the turrets were very mushy and I also own a S&B PMII by the way. What I like about the Mark 6 is the overall length and weight. Good optic if you are not looking for a 25x type scope.

The Mark 6 is great for it's size. I think for non fluorite glass it's very clear. The turrets are not super crisp but not mushy either. For fast shooting the Tremore 2 is nice.

Otherwise stick to SnB if you want reliable tracking and nice turrets, not to mention stellar glass.

For the price it is hard to beat the Mark 6 as a package. I own two of them and have not had a problem. The turrets can be a little squishy imo but I have never had a problem dialing in anything even when I was trying to do it fast.

The USO are more of a custom scope. They will build it the way you want and need. Tha nightforce is more of this is what we build with the different reticals. I too have a nightforce ATACR and USO ST10,LR17 and love all of them. Can't say enough about USO C/S they are great as well as nightforce C/S. Sorry I guess I wasn't much of a help.

I'm in the midst of a scope-shuffle where I'm figuring out (again) what optics are going on what rifles. My OBR is the 16", so it's not really my long range platform. It's either going to end up with my Bushnell 3.5-21 (H-59) or the Mk6 on it.

I can't think of a scope on the market that's offering the H-59 for cheaper than the Bushnell.

I just ordered my bushnell this week from cstactical. You can't beat the price and the quality seems great when I looked at one local beforehand. My friend has the mark 6 with h59 and it's great quality as well and about the same size as the bushnell I beleive. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I have a s&b with the h59 as well so I have had the chance to compare all of them. I wanted a more compact optic for the rifle I will be using it for and originally was going to buy the mark 6 because I liked my friends but wanted to try the bushnell first. I don't think I will be disappointed at all.
