Does inletting a B&C stock for DBM affect the integrity of the aluminum chassis? For example, if I have a Medalist tactical inlet for CDI DBM would the material removed compromise the strength or rigidity of the integral aluminum skeleton?

That asked, are some stock better off than others when it comes to adapting them to DBM?

Re: Integrity of stock after inletting for DBM

Someone I'm sure will have differing opinion but I'd say don't worry about it. I've seen quite a few mods done on the B&C stocks with no complaints.

As to are there others that are better...sure, McMillan, Manners etc. but you'll pay for them.

Re: Integrity of stock after inletting for DBM

I inletted a Savage 10 B&C stock for CDI bottom medal, and didn't touch the aluminum that runs along the flanks (sides) of the stick. The bottom of the stick is just a thin skin of fiberglass, so you're not really removing anything structural. You will probably chew away at the bottom of the aluminum bedding blocks to get the height correct, but this shouldn't be cause for concern.
