Was about to sell this ammo box at a gun show until a friend
noticed what the box said. Neither of us have scene one before
so I thought I would keep it. I picked it from from a guy who works
at the Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport Calif. They
do alot of training with troops from over seas because of the
elevations they can train in.

Re: Interesting ammo box

The UN code in the circle with the alphabet and number soup following it on the ammo box (bottom left side of the box) shows that is an approved container for shipping hazmat. In this case, the hazard class (Diamond sticker/label) is 1.4S or explosives, small arms. "S" for safety, meaning extremely low risk of accidental detonation. You can't (well legally anyway) ship hazmat in any old box, the container must be certified for burst strength, etc. But first time I have noticed it stenciled right on the can, but makes sense, otherwise it would have to put the can into some approved cardboard box to ship it.

If you look a the boxes that any powder or primers was shipped to you in, the box will have a certification number printed on it.

IVI should be Industries Valcartier Inc., Valcartier, Quebec, Canada.
