Interesting take on Crazy in the US

The internet is a coin toss, it has its good points...information at your fingertips, and its bad points which are legion.

Could we keep today's cars? Mine is much safer than the old ones and gets 54 mpg.

the problem is-who put them in charge? who lets them stay there? that is a result of "democracy". one driven by 100 years of dumbing down, propagandizing, shallow distractions in mandated public "education". this is all by plan which we are seeing the results of. making "democracy" open to any and all with no consideration of having skin in the game has evolved exactly per the plan.

As the cost of power goes up, the only way to win is to be more evil and diabolical than the next person. Thats how the most disgusting blood-soaked monsters rise to power

Today's rides are designed & based upon people being stupid, lazy, and beyond willing to give up their privacy. One of the reasons you are seeing such a rise in shops doing nothing but frame offs on pre 1990 trucks & select cars.

This link says it all about your modern rides being quasi interrogation devices as will as supervising nanny's.

that couldn't be more true. my (new to me) '18 is loaded with that shit. completely under comp control and i have no idea what shit lurks in it. GPS FS a tracking item. i assume it has a outside cut off for the cops when they want to use it. all knds of light going off inside when you do anything with it.
yes,if i could afford it and i was young enough for it to matter i would go the 20th cent rebuild with nothing digital in it. LOL. don't know how long independent shops can work. mech has to be almost a comp nerd to fix the damn things. ie if parts remain available which were becoming hard to get on my prev '05. plastic body parts-no repair. replace after a country wide junk yard search.
and you are given NO choice in having to buy all the comfort, convenience and "safety" shit. your gov at work making you save, secure and comfortable.

In so many words, Heinlein phrased it well.

Democracy is the idea that a million people are smarter than one person.

A dictatorship is the idea that one person is smarter than one million people.

Discuss. Remember, this is coffee talk. The phone number is 444-4444.

No doubt they are safer, but given all the differences and draw backs between modern & old, many are reverting. You can't buy a work truck w/o it being full on Gucci, which is just a huge piggy bank for the mgf's. There is a reason working people want mats & vinyl, standard transmissions an such. Interesting you can get a truck the way you what it most anywhere over seas, but here you can't. In 1973 I went to buy a new One Ton Chevy, but could not get the items on it I wanted w/o extra shit I did not what. The sales guy said the public will buy what we sell & like it, I said OK Fuck you. Walked across the street and bought my first F-350 ford C&C the way I wanted it. Now Ford is like all the rest, the reason most are saying Fuck you again, I'll spend my money getting a frame off and not have to put up with all the extra B/S your stuffing, in that junk these days.
Like many I'll spend $30-35 grand on a 1973 F 350 long before I'll spend $75-90 on anything new. Plus the tags & ins is much much cheaper. Will it get the fuel mileage nope but you can fix it with wire & bubble gum to get home if you have to. Vs a $15 -100 sensor, 500 buck shop charge and a 3-500 buck tow bill.

I agree with a lot of that, unfortunately it wont work for the average Joe. I drive a 2002 Chevy Express 3500. 280000 trouble free miles but I'm retired. If I had to use it every day I'd likely bite the bullet and get something newer. I always drove a 1 ton over a pick up, same milage, only 2 more tires, and many times the carrying capicity.

But in my every day drive I'll take that safety and milage.

So on the trucks video the new trucks deployed side airbags which didn't do shit for the driver. In the older trucks you can see the steering airbag deploy protecting the driver. They would have proven they're point better with t bones. Why yes I did do something stupid in my 90 5.0 mustang that deployed the steering airbag and I walked away. Don't think it's more safety people have a problem with, it's the fucking spying.

Yeah you can. My 2500 is bare bones, manual vinyl seats, no carpet, manual 4wd shift on the floor, column gear shifter, rinky dink 4 inch display with an aux cord input. Just about everything is manual or analog with the exception of the info pages in the cluster which are controlled by the toggles on steering wheel.

Safety is a thing but mileage is a fallacy vs life cycle cost. Run the numbers and you will find the ins & tag off set alone will most of the time negate the fuel costs depending, A/O & total mileage at life cycle end.

You have been very lucky but then again I doubt you use that truck to spec every day, like most people do w/ work trucks. We had a huge fleet of trucks, 33.3% Chevy, 33.3% Ford, & 33.3% Dodge, The Chevy's had to have a off road wrecker on stand by if you got off the pavement & the transmissions no matter gas or diesel where pure junk, The Fords were in the shop all the time with engine issues, The Dodges ate brakes at 30K the front ends were junk at 50K miles and shit like mirrors & trim fell off going down the road all the time. Now the people that never used them to spec mostly never encounter work truck issues, but when you pay 75 grand for a truck before you stock it and someone warming the seat, you don't need that shit OOS all the time.

Helps if you find a commercial dealer who specializes in fleet vehicles or lots of trucks. Your average dealer is into pushing the Gucci.

It was a work truck for 150 K. The main thing is lubrication and maintainence. At the first oil change I went with Amsoil in the engine, transmission and rear end. Change the oil religously at 10K with a grease job. Do that and the other maint. and maost any will last like that. My first new vehicle was a 87 Toyota wit the 22 R engine. Drove that 375K and it started everytime I turned the key. Maintainence. is key. I see others that buy anew one and run t into the ground in 100K by not doing the maint.

Maintenance was never an issue, as they all came from Wheels or Enterprize & everything for the first 100K miles was on them save tires, fuel, & wipers. The problem was they were used to spec and they all failed, the reason most guys who went on their own went to complete frame offs, with power trains of their choice. Many went w/ Isuzu 6BD1T's with 15-20% more fuel, a/a coolers, 6 speed double Od trans & 4.11/4.10 rear gears, mileage loaded was in the 18.5-20 range. Not bad for pump & line 1980's tech. Some guys went with TD 70 Volvos turned up slightly.

It comes with a power train most folks what nothing to do with any more. Hence why they are going w/ frame offs. Even work truck guys are getting tired all the B/S you can't get away from on new trucks. Most folks are only paid when they are working and if their ride is in the shop & the company does not have enough back ups they set until,...

Latest score. 84 k30.
Safety? What’s that.
Economical? Never heard of her.
Electronics? Is that what I smell?
Tracking? Yeah it probably dogtracks.

i have been in 3 totaled out wrecks in full sized SUVs. i can't prove it but my impression is that my injuries were largely caused by the air bags in #2,a t bone. i know #3 was only via the bags. the 1st 1 about 29 years ago was in an Isuzu before air bags. i had no injuries, nor did my little girl who at the time was in a passenger side car seat. that was before kids had to go in the back seats.
i am always going to believe that air bags are a +/- and there is no proof of their need. i at least have seen no #s on that. every accident is different just like every GSW. i do know that seat belts save lives. many years in ERs show me that. my problem is gov mandates because they force you to have no choices. makes big $ for manuf.
