anyone get a chance to mess with one of these yet? Are they more rugged than the gen 3? what was supposed to be the difference? heh, bomb proof? lol.

Yes, I have one. Been using it since December 09. Used for one tactical match and two training sessions. About 500-600 rounds fired under it. No problems noted.
According to Scott @ Liberty, all improvements made were to the internal components.
Based on my data point of one; so far so good.

cool. I have a defective 3-18x 3rd gen scope with a yellow tint on the lense that is probably going to be replaced.
UPDATE: Nevermind, turns out there's a special glass out there that IOR was able to get ahold of that has a yellow tint to it designed for military applications. It was set up specifically to filter out gamma rays. That's pretty cool. This is one of them.

did they explain any about filtering out gamma rays? for one you cant see a gamma ray with the naked eye or through a rifle scope. you can shield against gamma rays with lead. leaded glass does have a yellowish tint but its heavy as hell. what would be the purpose of shielding you eye from gamma rays if the rest of your body is being dosed up?
i think someone is blowing smoke. it may filter something but def not gamma rays.

this is what is says on the IOR site. "As far as some scopes being tinted yellow; THAT IS NOT A TINT. The glass was a very special limited edition made by SCHOTT GLASSWERK and it is actually the color of the glass, not a coating. These scopes are collectors items." Collectors items or not I wouldnt want it.

well I'm probably going to put it up for sale anyhow. it doesnt have enough elevation for my zastava anyhow and would be better suited on a bolt action rifle.
