Hi, I just purchased an IOR Valdada 2-12x36 for my AR-10. It has the 308 BDC ranged from 100 to 800 at 50yd increments. Does any one know what the ballistic info is for those marks? The web sight says 'NATO 168gr', but JBM's ballistic site doesn't include any such round. Can someone either point me to the correct ballistic profile, or just tell me exactly how many MOA each mark is set at?

Thanks a bunch! I'm loving everything about this scope and just want to know how much to adjust when using various loads.

The other name for 7.62NATO 168gr is M852 Match. You should be able to find data on that, or as stated above, Federal Gold Medal 168gr is very close.

The only thing about the BDC being listed for the 168 gr is that you are limited to using that bullet. If you plane on going out farther you will want to use 175 gr or 178 gr. I suggest IOR 2.5-10 x 42 30mm MIL/MIL Tactical FFP MP-8 Dot Illuminated Reticule. You can check it out here:

or look at the IOR 3.5-18x50 35mm Tactical scope FFP. It's out of stock right now and Liberty optics website says it will be in stock on April 10. IORs site doesn't have it listed right now. This is the moa version:

The scopes look the same. I would wait till April 10 and get the mil/mil version. Also, Liberty Optics has the best pricing on IOR scopes.

Re: IOR 308 BDC ballistics model?

@McGavin - I checked those scopes out, and while nice, I really wanted the extra field of view of the 2-12.

Knowing exactly how much drop the preset BDC clicks are set for will make it easy to calculate the ranges for those drops with my preferred round and simply put a sticker on the tower with the ranges printed that line up with my load. So, while it currently reads 1(00) through 8(00), my sticker might read 100 through 720, or whatever it works out to be.

Re: IOR 308 BDC ballistics model?

@nfoley - I'll let you know. The .5 mil marks should make adjustments quick and easy. The mils are only accurate at 12x power, but if I'm shooting long range that'll be my power of choice anyhow.

Re: IOR 308 BDC ballistics model?

Between Val and paraiso I think I have it worked out.

Based on the info from Val and paraiso(the field manual) here's what I came up with...
Range - Drop(in) - Drop(MOA)
100 - 0 - 0
150 - 1.3 - 0.8
200 - 4.1 - 1.9
250 - 8.5 - 3.2
300 - 14.7 - 4.7
350 - 22.8 - 6.2
400 - 33.0 - 7.9
450 - 45.5 - 9.7
500 - 60.6 - 11.6
550 - 78.4 - 13.6
600 - 99.4 - 15.8
650 - 123.7 - 18.2
700 - 151.7 - 20.7
750 - 183.9 - 23.4
800 - 220.7 - 26.3
I'll have to check this at the range. If I had a 1" grid target and a solid-as-a-rock rifle holder it would be easy to check.
