I am really intrigued by the new MOA/MOA 3.5-18x50 IOR scope just put out. It has some really nice features with the digital illumination, very nice reticle, 25MOA per revolution, ability to have two zero settings one for regular and one for suppressor for example and a reputation for great glass to competes with the best.

The only thing that concerns me are comments by members on this board like Lowlight saying how the internals of the IOR are garbage etc etc. Are there any consensus on how the internals are on the current scopes? What about the internals make it inferior compared to lets say NF? All inputs appreciated.

Re: IOR internals vs NF???

I havent owned a IOR for about 4 years but the 3 previous ones I owned all had glass that was on par with my S&B but the internals all took a crap. Getting them warrantied was a huge pain, I have heard that the warranty process isnt as bad and they have improved on their QC.

Re: IOR internals vs NF???

Good question alpha I was wondering the same since I have both an IOR and a Nightforce. I'll tell you this atleast on looks the IOR is incredibly impressive. The glass and reticle to me are far better than my nightforce and the 35mm tube makes the scope feel like a sledge hammer. Now I've seen that Nightforce pic of the scope that took a round and continued operating for the remainder of the soldiers mission and that speaks volumes for the Nightforce. Will be monitoring.

NOTE: I just recently purchased the IOR and supposedly these
newer scopes have upgraded internals so I would love to
here any info on how much better these new internals are.

Re: IOR internals vs NF???

IOR guys will say that the 4th gen are "bullet proof". But the fact there even is a fourth generation internal should tell you something. I think IOR offers some great features at a reasonable price, but it will take some time before I trust them.

Re: IOR internals vs NF???

All the problems I hear about are with the 3-18x42 FFP model. I purchased one used, it showed up broken, my replacement has been 100% so far. I would consider getting the new 50MM FFP model but I would wait a little while to see if they too start going tits up like the 42mm models did.

If you want the SFP model consider getting a nightforce 5.5-22 instead.

Ain't that the truth, pic of one of two gen 3's that puked after less than 30 each.
