Rifle Scopes IOR OR LEUPOLD MARK4

Re: IOR OR LEUPOLD MARK4

If the IOR didnt break I would have that but there have been many bad reports of bad scopes coming from IOR in the past but someone like scott at Liberty Optics may update you on the scopes they are producing now .If it was just glass IOR hands down but as we know there is more than glass that makes a scope worth having .

Re: IOR OR LEUPOLD MARK4

Scott is definately a pleasure to deal with and I'm sure he'd help you if you had any problems at all with the IOR. I had an IOR 4-14X50 with the big exposed knobs and it was a great scope. The glass was superb and I loved everything about the scope except the MP8 reticle. I hated that dot in the center of the reticle. This may sound crazy but that dot always seemed to be floating around to my eyes. I'm sure it was just me but I just never could get my eyes to focus on that dot. I'd have to go with the Leupy just for that reason. In my opinion both are great scopes and you can't go wrong with either. It basically comes down to which one you prefer.

Re: IOR OR LEUPOLD MARK4

I know the topic says IOR or mark4 I own a mark 4 its not bad and I have been a Leupy fan my whole life but a scope I recently purchased that I'm totally impressed with that deserves a look is vortex and a very reasonable price, I personaly the the glass is quite a bit better than the leupy and I have beat the hell out of it and it stood up. To buy that same quality of scope through leupold it would have doubled in price.

Re: IOR OR LEUPOLD MARK4

IOR is the better scope if it doesen't break. I think they are getting better quality wise, but a lot of people got stung by them earlier. But if you get one from Scott you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Just my opinion.

Re: IOR OR LEUPOLD MARK4

Good topic I have been wondering the same thing. I have been a life long LEO guy.....live close to the factory and their customer service is A1. I shot a while back with a guy who had the 3-18 IOR the glass was brilliant...we did the old long range read the license plate test...(real science here) and at 14x on LEO I only had to go to 12x on the IOR and the IOR was easier and crisper to read through. But this was his 2nd IOR...the 1st one broke....stopped adjustments both elevation and windage. Now his second scope had mushy knobs......they made no audible sound at all and he said a couple times the scope had failed to adjust mag even though the ring was turning. HE said when the first one broke IOR pretty much told him who cares ( this was 4-5 years ago) finally after talking to his dealer the dealer traded him into a a new one and said he would recoup the money from IOR. So he was without a scope for 3 months. FUnny thing is this guy doesn't hunt or do tactical work he babies his scopes which sit on a 308. I do all of the above and just hammer my scopes and they don't break and if they do LEO has the lifetime warranty that in my experience is no questions asked. I could go get a scope in a day from LEO. But people say that IOR has improved its cs and man it is nice nice glass......I have pretty much been begging for a reason to buy one and I love the M8 reticle.

Has anyone handled or shot IORs 40mm maintube?? My Leo has a 40mm OBJECTIVE!!!

I'm also in the market for a great deal on either one of those specific scopes. If you don't mind, PM with the details if there are more to go around.

Thanks!

Re: IOR OR LEUPOLD MARK4

I recently acquired a IOR SH edition, glass was flawless and an excellent scope. Only reason I parted with it was due to the magnification (needed more than 18x as it was gonna ride on a 338LM)and eye relief was a little iffy.

I sold it to a fellow Hide member here a purchased a new Leupold MK4 in 8.5x25 w/the illum. TMR reticle and never looked back. I had heard some warranty issues on the IOR's and never had that problem with Leupold.

In short, I went with the Leupy and couldn't be happier. Customer service has always been great with them and I couldn't say more. FWIW, that my two cents worth on the matter.

I just went to Leupy's website and specs for the 8.5x25 Mk4 with the TMR say the mil knobs have each click at .5cm @ 100yds? WTF? WOW, that a big adjustment on each click. My current scope gives me .1mil per click and I like that.

Ah, thanks - I read that wrong. I was thinking .5 mils at 100 yds. My bad.
