Rifle Scopes IOR scope

Show low, you won't find much love for IOR on thirs forum. Here at least, it seems their reputation is that they fall apart just by looking at them. I can't comment on other folks experiences but can comment on how mine has worked out... and I own one of the infamous 3-18x42 IOR SH edition scopes so often beat up on this forum.

Perhaps I should go buy a lottery ticket because mine has so far survived over 3500 .308 cycles and after much turret spinning it still returns to zero and provides a very satisfying view through its excellent glass.

Given that the consensus here is they won't survive past 11 am (or was that 10am), I feel fortunate indeed.

Better run out to get another lottery ticket. Let the fireworks begin!

Edit: To add I am not in northern Arizona but in western WA.

Friends don't let friends buy IOR scopes. However, I have a friend that ignored my advice. I believe its a MX7 recon tactical 4-28 power. It's in the Prescott area, he may be interested in selling it. It's a 40mm tube, 50 mm objective with the focus just aft of the objective lens. If you're interested PM me, I'll see what I can do.

I live in Flagstaff.

Here's my story concerning IOR. Around 7-8 years ago a friend bought a IOR instead of a NF which was his other choice. It broke soon so he sent it back. This friend talked some IOR rep into sending him another IOR offering which broke too in a short while. Got a another new one and sold it. The friend was pretty frustrated and left precision rifle for a while. He eventually bought a March which he was happy with.

You have to understand that back then the IOR's were half the price of USO and S&B which were about the only FFP offerings. The Horus Jap line didn't track so... At the time the 3rd gen IOR, a 6-24x56 had just come out and I got one for $1650 which I was reasonably happy with for a year when it too broke during a match. I sent it back and sold the new replacement.

There's so many other good choices nowadays... I'm a fanboy for sure but you really need to take a look at the Athlon Cronus BTR 4.5-29x56! That's a scope that turned out very well.

Interestingly I've been running quite a few inexpensive Athlon scopes for most of two years with no problems at all.

I had two of them and they have started to go bad. I returned one to IOR for repairs to the power ring. That was in August of 2016. I have called them numerous times about this scope. The only answer they will give me is to call back again in a couple of weeks.
Now it is at one year and still nothing. When my other scope goes bad the only thing I will do with it is toss it in the trash. It is not worth the trouble to return them to the IOR representative. A wasted $1500 for each scope. Bye Bye IOR.

I own the Crusader. So far, I am impressed. The optical quality is phenomenal, although at 40x the eyebox gets a tad tight, and there is a mild yellowish tinge around the edges. Both the tinge and the eyebox resolved when I centered the elevation, as opposed to bottoming out. Some may scoff at this, but all three Vortex HDGen2 I have looked through had worse "bottom syndrome".

Within 200 yards, parralax/focus is exact. Anything but the exact amount of focus is fuzzy. BUT, when you nail it, WOW.

The tracking is, as far as I can tell, perfect.

You could save some money and buy a dandy Bushnell offering. in 3.5-21 DMRII
I DO like the MP 8 reticle and the glass is superb, but they are over priced for what they are.
In the unlikely event you need customer service, even bushnell does a pretty good job.

I've got two, a 3.5-15 on a custom 308, and a 12-52 on a custom 6.5 CM. I will admit both scopes have one issue that I can't seem to get rid of. Everytime I look through one of them and pull the trigger on one of my rifles, there is always this short pause and then a distinct ringing sound coming from down range.......Oh, and did I mention you'll get an orgasm every time you use one!
