For those wanting dc, is lightning not a problem in your area? I’ve lost ac unit, well pump multiple times and have three fence chargers to have one working, one on standby and one at factory for rebuild.

Yessir, lightning plays hell with well pumps. I've had a couple zapped. Then I came up with an idea. Don't know if it would work for you though. Found an old windmill stand not being used. Brought it home, blasted and wire brushed off the rust and crap. Put it in over the well (no contact points) and ran a deep (12' or so) ground rod with some heavy wire out about 15' or so. It's been there 12 years or so and no more pump replacement. (So far)
Edit: also figured if I had to pull another well pump that stand may come in handy
I just gotta throw this out there, but where's Ugashik Bob when you need him? He's been doing this 'off grid' stuff for many years, and has quite the elaborate setup.
Actually, he was, for years. He lived on the bottom tip of the Aleutions, or something like that. He used to be a member here and shared his solar/wind system with his charge controllers and whatnot that he built. And they all live in the house right down by the ocean. His pictures of the locale were fabulous. His infrastructure was impressive. (I'm talking about off-grid electrics and such, so no need for nobody to get all kinky here.)
((see what I did there?)) HA.
He connected via satellite dish and some such. Wasn't able to be on often, or long. This was back on the Old Hide. Remember, when we used to have to shoot uphill, both ways.
