Iran go boom

The first casualty of war is always the truth, but I do not doubt those who speak'ih to me, YMMV.
In the coming weeks & months the truth will sort its self out, always does. Guess the question is, can a set of Tits trump mega buck tools, my guess is,.... Oh hell yes,...
Well, my “mileage” tells me to immediately discount anything put forth by any Islamic State propaganda arm until absolutely proven, and then I still doubt it for a while.

I think it's way more likely the MIC here in USA wants war with Iran which is why they leaked that document about the strike being ineffective. They want people to pressure Trump to launch more missiles.
Like her or not, Grace Slick put it well.

"War is good business, give your son."

One of the benefits of being a corrupt mideast regime is you can arrest people and hang them for "israel spying".

Alcohol is illegal there but tons of people drink anyways, they make moonshine or import it for christians/jews etc who can technically drink because they're non muslim.
Yeah, but wouldn’t it be like trying to smuggle bombs into the US disguised as a truckload of cocaine? “No bombs here, officer. Just a load of everyday coke.” Wouldn’t you disguise it with something that’s common, and most especially, LEGAL?

That is good, I use to heavily drink our own koolaid, until learning the truth about many things.
And yet there are grown adults in this very thread that claim to have doubted the msm and the government updates only a year ago. Now if the update from the same places fits their personal desires they buy it hook line and sinker. There is a lack of critical thought in the world today, and this is how we get into wars that should have never happened. Nobody asks questions or actually thinks critically for themselves. Only thing I can think of as a reason is that it would be a personal crisis if part of their worldview was wrong and they have been played for the benefit of others.

The briefing this morning by SecDef and CJCS General Caine was an eye opener. To say the least.

Incredibly detailed mission brief, starting with how we've been working on this particular problem in Iran for 15-years. The MOP itself was built specifically for this target. Five MOPs went through the central main ventilation shaft, which offered a direct, vertical path to the facility and detonated.

The link for the press briefing is below. Oh, Also the mission included a woman pilot. All the B2 aviators flew the exact mission in the simulators many times.

Link:

Lots of speculation about an image showing a line of trucks at Fordow recently. Some people are claiming that they were taking enriched Uranium out of the facility.

This is not true. The trucks were there sealing the main ventilation shaft to protect the facility. One MOP was used to destroy the cap.

The reporting is all over the map with this.

"Simultaneous to Trump issuing another statement rejecting the thesis that the uranium has been moved and hidden, Financial Times reports in a strangely worded headline ("Iran moved uranium from Fordow before US strikes, EU capitals believe") the following:

Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile remains largely intact following US strikes on its main nuclear sites, European capitals believe, calling into question President Donald Trump’s assertion that the bombing “obliterated” the Islamic republic’s nuclear programme.
Two people briefed on preliminary intelligence assessments said European capitals believe Iran’s stockpile of 408kg of uranium enriched close to weapons-grade levels was not concentrated in Fordow, one of its two main enrichment sites, at the time of last weekend’s attack. It had been distributed to various other locations, the capitals believe.
This would indeed be an interesting twist - that the bulk of enriched uranium stockpiles were not even located at Fordow, which appeared to be the heaviest hit in the US operation. According to more:"

The people said EU capitals were still awaiting a full intelligence report on the extent of the damage to Fordow — which was built deep beneath a mountain near the holy city of Qom — and that one initial report suggested “extensive damages, but not full structural destruction”. Iranian officials have suggested the enriched uranium stockpile was moved before the US bombing of the plant, which came after days of Israeli strikes on the country.

Right after we hit the nuke facilities, lots of talk/ speculation concerning the closing of the Straits of Hormuz. It even seemed as though that was imminent. Haven’t heard a thing in the last 2-3 days. Anybody?
this was a suggested threat from iran that they didn't follow up on, and apparently won't try.
the point is moot now that the war is "over" for the time being.

Gas prices around here went up.

From what I gather a large percentage of CHICOM oil goes through that choke point so I’m betting the CHICOMs asserted a bit of influence on Iran to NOT execute that COA.

I was wondering about that after I saw Hegseths presentation

Saudi is 2nd behind Russia in Chinas supply. I would bet they and others would not be pleased. Around +50% of their hydrocarbons come from the middle east.

I don’t believe it would work out well for them(iran).

Tehran has increasingly limited the IAEA’s ability to inspect its facilities since Washington withdrew from the nuclear deal, though it pledged in March 2023 to boost cooperation with the agency. The commitment came months after IAEA inspectors detected uranium particles enriched to 83.7 percent at Fordow, prompting international concern.

The CFR (of all groups) is clear in their synopsis - no one believes Iran has stockpiles of highly enriched uranium.

If they don't believe that Iran has stockpiles of highly enriched Uranium then why did Bibi say they did and were only weeks to months away from enriching it to weapons grade and had enough to refine it into a weapon?

I have already addressed the 83.7% PARTICLES issue earlier this week.

What I am NOT saying is that Iran is innocent. What I am saying is that the narrative is all over the map. And if Iran did/does have it I dont think they are so stupid as to leave it in one location. That would be next level moronic. So if they have it, my bet is that it is still out there.

If you are really asking me: I regard anything any politician says about a potential enemy as 'maybe'. Bibi and lots of others have been ringing the Iran bomb bell for decades. What was in it for Bibi to bring this to a head now? Trial? Was 10/7 real? Or was that about the same?

I missed your particles thoughts....but my understanding of when Israel got the bomb they disguised the size of the facility so inspectors never saw the weapons grade area vs civi use areas.

The narrative is all over the map.....and in some ways, wholly unlike any other conflict we have ever seen - which leads to a long line of other questions.

"Still out there" + "Highly Enriched" - I can see a potential situation where clammer over these two phrases and an unwillingness to change US position (it is all destroyed) may lead to some very interesting outcomes. ZATO could easily end up with a 2 front problem (Ukraine and Iran) and the US (hopefully) would just sit back and watch.

ps - T$ is out there now calling for an end to the Bibi investigations.....

it is still out there.

It probably is, my gut feeling is this whole thing was an object lesson. Trump gave them an ultimatum, they told him to fuck off, so he waltzed in and bombed some of their shit. And there's nothing they can do about it lol. Their air force, air defense, warning systems, none of it is effective.

Or maybe it was even more aimed at showing China what we can do if we want to do it.

Wait. Was the October 7 attack real? Now that's a hell of a conspiracy theory.

Saw the same types of speculation reference Saddam's WMD - 1) he hid it, 2) he buried it, 3) he gave it to Syria. Media just like speculating - 24 hours news needs lots of news

I hope there is an LOE to suppress Iranian anti-ship missiles & sea mining assets around the straights of Hormuz.
A single B-2A can carry 80 500lb JDAMs, each of which can perform in the Quick-Sink mode. That’s where it penetrates the water surface near the hull at an optimized stand-off distance, then detonates oblique to the hull using the ocean water as a water impulse charge. This immediately severs the entire hull into two halves, sinking any ship in seconds. Not minutes, but a few seconds.

iu

Quick-Sink is a programmable change to the existing JDAM, doesn’t require any new hardware. They did tests with 80x 500lb JDAM from a B-2A out here at the UTTR, with 80 different shipping containers arrayed on a simulated airfield. Every single one impacted within their advertised CEP.

A single B-2A could erase the Iranian Navy in a single sortie, leaving only 3 ships left. 2x B-2As could put about 2 JDAMs besides almost every ship in their inventory. 2x B-2s and a B-1B could erase the Iranian Navy 3x over, as the B-1B carries 84 500lb JDAMs internally. Every seaport could be saturated with JDAMs until they were nothing but smoking remains that would require complete rebuilds.

iu

We are a very patient, lenient military than rarely flexes its true muscle. If we did, we would be the utter fear of the world. Nobody would dare even make a peep of criticism of the US. What we have today makes what we had in WWII look like a cheap picnic.

I would have preferred that we stayed out of this one, now I will at least hold out hope that we aren’t committing anything more than bombing nuke sites.

No troops, no regime change, no nation building bullshit.
The Iranians are more likely to sort their own regime out now that they’ve been repeatedly humiliated with defeat.

Zero reason to put US soldiers on the ground in Iran.

Arabs should have no presence in Persia anyway. Time to send them packing or hang them in the streets of Tehran.

Though the Bone can carry 84 mk-82 style bombs, it's unusual to do so on long missions.
Typically, the forward weapons bay will have a fuel tank installed inside. This tank allows for an additional 18,000 lbs of fuel on board.

Disclaimer: mission will dictate how the forward bay is used.

We were on B-1B Combined Test Force from 1983-1985 before going to Hill AFB and UTTR. I did not know the B-1 was employed with an internal tank in the forward bay, but I do remember the neutering of the rotary ALCM launchers as part of SALT BS. We were long-gone from the program when all that happened, moved on to F-16C Block 40 systems integration, then F-15 CTF.

I would just tell DoD to have the aircrews and units to have a competition on who could sink the most Iranian ships in the least amount of sorties, with the least amount of exposure and expenditure, and offer incentives for the winners.
