They teied in 2009 and got stomped when Obama failed to support the students and the folks calling for an end to the theocratic dictatorship. This time... I bet the U.S. will stand behind them.

Never thought I'd be saying it... But "Go Iranian Revolutionaries!!!"

Damn what an achievement that would be... I can dream...

Cheers, Sirhr

Bring on the Freedom . One has to wonder thoough with the over abundance of stable personalities in the ME what kind of vacuum would this create . The majority seem incapable of self rule without the use of extreme violence to maintain order . By violence I mean the round up of opposition , beheadings etc .
I wish them luck and would love to eat my words .

From what little Ive seen an read the Iranians are (one of?) the most civilized of the bunch. Havent been there but Tehran is a beautiful modern city. let hope this goes the right way.

Yep, and everything I've read and seen is most of the young people in Iran are also very pro western. Hope the best for them, it won't be easy and the road may be long but if they are successful the country will be much better off in the end.

WTF is that picture? It has the CN Tower... what looks like the Chrysler building and the San Francisco... is it "Met Life" tower in it? That's the most photoshopped picture I've ever seen. Unless the Iranians have been doing some really bad copying.

But to your point, Maggot... Yes, the Iranians are a great people. And they are, technically, caucasian. Not A-Rabs. The Ayotollah and his minions dating back generations... are desert sh**wads who have destroyed a wonderful country.

There are some great books on Iran... but one thing I learned a year or so ago is that we had something like 60,000 troops in Iran in WW2 as their transportation infrastructure was the key to keeping USSR supplied. The Tehran Conference was held there for a reason. Operation Long Jump is a book that I read a year ago that is amazing... I never heard of it. But talks about Iran in WW2 and a German attempt to assasinate Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill at Tehran conference. One of the senior guys in Tehran at the time... The father of Norman Schwartzkopf. I knew that little Norm had some experience in the ME before Desert Storm. But this book filled in a lot of blanks. Non-fiction... reads like Tom Clancy!

Go Iran!

Cheers,

Sirhr

If we can have the actual intelligence and foresight and decent leadership to:

1. Help the Iranian people topple the religious leaders that muck it up for everybody
2. Get the nominal civilian government properly bribed / incentivized to ditch the religious wackjobs
3. Get the Iranian army and guard on our side quickly with the carrots only we can dangle
(The revolutionary guard loves the idea of money and cool toys and hanging out with the big boys as buddies just as much as the next guy does).
4. Make them our new bestest buddies as soon as they get rid of the religious wackjobs

We could most likely have the best ally we could want in the Arab world. A little known fact is that the Iranians as people have one of the most positive opinions of the USA of almost anyone in the world.
Get rid of the religious wackjobs, appeal to their national pride, flood them with how nice we are and there is a very good chance once again they will become our bestest friends, like they used to be before a little Jimmy Carter lesson in telling our friendly dictator to be nice to Muslim Extremists went all upside down.

Not to mention they have huge under utilized oil reserves and a pent up desire for western goods, enough to give us serious leverage with the Saudis and the rest as we can say we have a new best friend.... what you got to put on the table....

Just think also of all the USA built weapons they would love to buy in exchange for oil, Jobs Jobs Jobs.

As far as the Jews and Israel go, that is not really an issue, Jews historically had peace and safety in Persia / Iran, till the religious wackjobs took over.
The Persians really don't have any historical care about what Israel does it's just in their religious wackjobs interests to force that narrative.
I'm pretty sure in exchange for a few big showy ICBMs and a couple nukes they get to claim ownership of and manhood enchancement by, they will work out a peace treaty with Israel. (none of which will work without our say so, as is the case with pretty much all the weapons we sell to all the countries). They hate the House of Saud way more than anything else.

The USA however seems to excel at totally messing up great opportunities for long lasting allies and never missing a chance to ruin a potential good arrangement, so I'm not hopeful.
(Just ask the poor Kurds... how many times over the last 50 years have we "encouraged" them to rise up against somebody we didn't like, armed them..... then left them twisting in the wind to get slaughtered once we half achieved some objective.).

This would be a great thing.
I'm guessing the folks in power will soon send them to allah.

R

Of course... that's sort of a win, too. Because if they kill the protestors... will push the revolution further... Everyone loves a martyr. And it will further de-legitimize the regime and make damn sure that the Iran Nuke deal gets...well.. nuked!

Wonder how much Saudi money and influence is currently pushing this. After all, the Mullahs are pushing the rebels who are firing missiles at Saudi... it's time for a proxy war in Tehran and Qum.

Cheers,

Sirhr

I vote that we drop these two on them....Think of it as sort of sending them home...

We could drop them in from about 40K feet...

Of course, they're probably very senior VEVAK operational types at this point... with a huge pile of medals for infiltrating the U.S. at the highest levels and steering our policy in stupid directions.

One of these days, they'll return home to a parade. Mark my words.

Holy crap! Somebody swallowed that one hook, line, and gullible sinker.

Here's the original:

All photoshop aside, lets support the opportunity for the Iranianin people to succeeded in finally getting back to a democratic society, not a theological government.

Well, if you manage the trip, be sure to snag us a postcard at the airport!

"Back to..." is a relative thing. The Shah wasn't exactly James Madison. But I'd be happy having them be a nice, happy secular, USA-loving place where we can send them lots of petro dollars and not have to worry about them blowing up our nightclubs and airliners. I have my doubts that democratic societies can even survive in places where people have a hard-time with the concept that self-determination is an affront to the will of Allah. But there is no reason we can't get along with people who simply want to have better, freer lives... and get along with us while worshipping whoever the f&$# they want!

Here's hoping... because if Iran gets rid of its evil scum dictator-class... especially if they chop their heads off... the world will be a better place! For a while.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Man just the sight of Valerie Jarret pisses me off . I saw her on a Sunday morning news show about 12 years ago or so . Interviewer asked her about being Iranian and she responded that while proud of her heritage she's an American . Fast forward two years ago che ked snopes because Dems denying she's Iranian and snopes sayz not Iranian .
Mutherfuckers couldn't tell the truth about what they had for lunch . Bunch of pathological
Liars .

Jarrett and Obama have killed more muslims through incompetence than all other westerners combined by any means, ever.

As far as Iran is concerned, I never met a Persian I didn't like, a lot, I never met a Saudi I did like. Trump is tweeting support openly the left wing is losing its shit. Keep it going Trump, dont pussie out.

If the shit head Iranian authoritarian regime goes down...what does that mean for Syria and ISIS? Because, correct me if wrong, at this point in time AFAIK most of us can agree things are better off there with Assad staying in power..?? Unless the Kurds took the whole country, Bashar seems about the lesser of all the evils there. We can't trust the FSA far as we can throw em from last I seen't. And without Iran's backing, hopefully Assad's forces don't crumble under the boots of the much worse ISIS/Al Nusra/etc whatever the fuck trash thugs are running rampant there under their peaceful extremist banner....

Trump and Mattis has been killing the fu out of ISIS, they are not the threat they were one year ago, they are about done, the T.M team are getting the Iraqis to actually kill their enemies with a small US foot print on the ground but a big one in the air something the last two pussy presidents couldn't or wouldn't do. I hate GWB as much as I hate Obama. I say we take our chances with the regime toppling there but keep a small foot print internally in Iran.

I'm with you on this, Army. If we don't have a bunch of Neo-con morons trying to make them all 13-colonies... and screwing their chances up... I think they will do all right. The young people there are smart, educated... and pretty secular. I hear lots of them are dying... badly. But there are lots of them still active. I think the average age in that country is late teens. The Mullah's can't kill their way out of this.

Cheers,

Sirhr

I love listening to the whiny little ex-Obama staffers going "be quiet... be quiet... you can't support them."

If these idiots had pushed the issue in 2009, we'd have had an Iran Deal that included trade and petroleum and open relations. Not paying them billions (much in cash) to fund terrorists and keep destroying their next generations.

Whatever the ex-Obama national security idiots recommend... we need to do the opposite! Wow... just wow.

Note that there is no coverage of this anywhere but Fox... the rest of the media are ignoring it while investigating panel trucks near Mar-a-Lago and how many diet Cokes to drink a day.

Well, conventional wisdom is that Chris Matthews, that burbling 'tard is going down in flames this week for diddling his staff... so to speak. Bring it. Starting 2018 on a high note!

Cheers,

Sirhr

History has taught me that we are better off with the tyrant in place than the unknown entity that replaces it.

In this case though the party in place is known and they are the same guys that took our people hostage in 1979 and have been killing us at every opportunity since.

I think this ties in with what has been happening in Saudi A lately.

We should really get to know who that new prince is over there as apparently it seems we are all in for him succeeding.

This concerns me in that Saudi Arabia, as far as I believe despite the love shown by Clinton a pair of Bushes and Obama, is no friend of ours.

The positive side of that is that the new Prince appears to be purging those members of the family that were showered with love by Clinton/Bushes/Obama. So in this case Im hopeful that its a matter of the "enemy of my enemy is my friend".

My understanding is that Shiite Muslims are no bargain with their Gotterdamerrung/firey ending view of the world but they are not as virulent as Wahhabi muslims when it comes to spreading the faith through jihad.

The Shah, Assad, Quaddafi (post getting his tent blown up) and even Saddam (had he not been emboldened by UN inaction) were not good people but they maintained secular cultures and pretty much kept to their own power fantasies as long as their ability to exist was not threatened.

Whatever happens in Iran I hope we actually take a principled view in the desired outcome......

1. Let them fight their own war, support as you can as long as our guys are not deployed.

2. Only support people that are committed to a secular replacement government. Don't lie with dogs expecting that you wont wake up with fleas.

3. I do want Trump to support what is going on unlike Obama leaving them out to dry in 2010. Our history since the end of the Gulf War has been one of "encouraging" popular dissent than when they take action we pull back and let the people be slaughtered by the dictator - see "Marsh Kurds" or "Kurds" in general. There is no reason for any "good" guy over there to believe our word has any value.

I'll Tire of it right after we see Kim Jong nutball hanging from a lamp post by his toes in a all out impression of Benito Mussolini and his shirtless upside down hang dance. Until then nope not tired of winning cheers

If Kim Il Bowlcut doesn’t change course he won’t do a Mussolini re-enactment but rather his ashes will drift across the Sea of Japan along with a few spent isotopes, I hope that it doesn’t come to this but I’m not optimistic.

It will make for TV worth watching!

I know... wrong Kim Jong. But they're close enough!

With any luck the PRC will intervene before we have to begin filming Team America II on their southern door step.

Back OT I sincerely hope that the Iranian people take their country back from the mullahs.

Iran is not Arab.

They are Persian.

Most of what Islam looks on as the Golden Age - higher maths, science, medicine, literature, was brought to you by Persians.

Their discoveries are important in our world.

Persian = Algebra

Arab = Wiping ass with hand

The older people in the country remember a time much different from what exists now.

Im sure their children and grand children hear their stories and pine for those times.

Its soon to be now or never for an uprising to succeed because as the older generations die the memories die with them.

Present day Iran is hardly a wisp of the Persian Empire. Rome, Greece, Egypt, Mongolia, Britain, Spain, Ottoman/Turkey, all the same, shells of their heydays and torn down by many factors of either socialism, religion, or government greed and oppression of its people. Persia was pre-Islam, and has been little more than an after thought in global impact since. As for what Iran was like under the Shah, well Afghanistan was the site of mini skirts and go-go boots not too long ago as well. Countries' freedoms retract rapidly when they become an Islamic based government, and those retractions are near permanent these days.

This latest batch of protests will get squashed, just like those in Venezuela, and there will be no change until those within the military join in which isn't happening. The Republican Guard there are ferocious and loyal to the Ayatollah to their death, they give zero fucks about killing their fellow citizens if they speak out against the government. There will be no regime change there without foreign invasion, and this latest batch of protests will rapidly be squashed in the tracks of Boraghs (BMPs).

The only shit I give about Iran is keeping the pressure on them. The people there had no problem supporting the killing of US military in Iraq, and continue to support expanding Iranian influence in the region and world, despite what a few college kids may put out on social media to the contrary.

Those cousin fuckers can suck a fat dick.
