Is .458 SOCOM actually used by the US military?

Exactly what the title says. It was developed for SOCOM, more or less, but was it ever adopted or even tried out? I can't find that it ever was but I've been told that "several SF units got them" including "a SEAL team" and "at least one of the Army's SMU's". I don't think I quite believe it, and no proof of the claim was offered. So I thought some of y'all might know better.

Who cares? It's a boutique caliber for specific applications.

Was discussing whether it would be a suitable round for stopping a charging lion, tiger, or leopard as a hunter or game warden (the general opinion from gentlemen in that business was "no") and the subject of it being a "boutique cartridge" came up and that the SOCOM name was just silly advertising since I doubted it ever was even used. Was told otherwise and now I'm just genuinely curious. Can't really see what it'd be good for.

"SOCOM", "DEVGRU", etc... test LOTS of stuff... I would guess 99% is never adopted or at least not "officially"...

I know of a few things that were tested that officially dont exist... They were loaded by a well known ammo manufacturer but if you ask them about it(even with pictures of their boxes) they will deny it...
