Is my chamber neck too tight?

I had a custom free-bore chamber reamer ground by PT&G. I never gave much thought to the neck diameter, and Dave never asked me.

I ended up with a 0.252" neck on my 223 Remington chamber. After measuring my loaded, unturned Lapua cases, the case necks are 0.250".

I don't believe I've ever had a chamber this tight on any previous rifle. Am I asking for trouble? This build is supposed to a field/tactical rig, not a bench-rest rifle.

Just curious what the consensus might be, and what sorts of things I should watch out for with this setup. I don't mind turning necks, but I'm not sure if I need to.

Clymer lists .2540 at the case mouth and .2550 at the shoulder neck junction for the .223 Remington. 5.56 is .2550 at both.

Thats enough to work,but you will have to be careful if you change brands of brass or even different lots.Thats about what I run on my br rifle,may be a little tight for a working rifle. Pete

If it's a 'work' gun, keep it clean. If the rounds chamber fine and eject ok, no worry. Clean is the operative word.
