    I listed a rifle of mine on an auction site. It is a 700 BDL in .308 that had a VS barrel installed, is in a HS Precision stock with a Karsten cheek rest, and has BO rings and mount, and a SS 10X rear focus. It has less than 500 rounds through it. I set a buy it now price of 1,050.

    Is that too high in today's market? Just curious if I should adjust my expectations and price.

    Well...here is a breakdown (roughly) of the components:

    1) 700BDL Action/VS Barrel - Appr. $400
    2) HS Stock - Appr. $200
    3) Karsten upgrade - Appr. $60
    4) Badger Rings/Base - Appr. $300
    5) SS 10x Rear Focus - Appr. $300

    TOTAL=$1260

    If you discount that price to used, I don't think you are too far off the mark. The problem is whether there is a market for it in its current config. You may have better luck pulling the scope, stock, etc. and parting it out as components if it doesn't sell as a packake within a month.

    When pricing an item for sale it really depends on how fast you want to sell it. If the rifle does not sell then obviously your price is too high. You can either wait it out to find just the right buyer, or you can lower your price and try to move it faster.

    Factory Remington's are coming down in price so sometimes a price can be too high. Heck with Academy selling new ADL's for $350 it is tough to sell a Remington action for $4oo when you can sell the stock and barrel from the 700 ADL and only have $250 in the same action from Academy?? So if your rifle is not selling and you want it to go then lower the price. But if you are in no hurry then wait. Tom.
