Last I recall Russia was outpacing us in arty shell production.. and doing it at a cheaper price.
And there’s already American troops on the ground in Ukraine. There was a green beret unit attached to Azov, and when they got surrounded in Mariupol - some high level negotiations took place for them to be allowed to leave with their lives. All those Azov troops were subsequently killed.



War is hell dude. Why don’t we try being friends with Russia instead of poking the bear? We got way more in common with them than the vast majority of our “allies”.

This is true of western leaders and their offspring safe in government jobs too.

A look at the history of human civilizations shows, the early days found their leader from among those whose abilities to defend, and to lead in battle where necessary, were above the rest of the community. A "natural leader" whose leadership had been tested, not just stated as a brag, not just carried as a myth/legend.

I'm pretty sure that you could not successfully bribe your way into that status -- people would have witnessed your skills in fighting and in leadership.

Today we have all kinds of sophisticated tools and toys, central A/C, plumbed water/sewage, central power, etc. Yet who are the leaders we seem to choose/elect/support? Why are they "leaders" if they have not been tested in skirmish and tactics?

I think the vast majority do not perceive the Russians as trying to use the church or any other institution as cover.
They give zero fucks about excuses beyond getting NATO and the West to get off their doorstep.

The RUS govt has, through its public-facing personnel and channels, emphasized consistently since 2014 that this problem is a problem of national boundaries (historical, and near-term both) and of NATO's history of speaking with a forked tongue on what are its intentions adjacent to RUS.

A person only has to go look at their appropriate sources within RUS govt, and pay attention to the 3 main public-facing diplomats, Lavrov Medvedev and Zakharova. The message has been consistent since 2014. Same with RUS's statements and positions toward NATO.

I've watched the UKR scenario since 2014 as if it were a big piece of white collar litigation. And I see one side's position, and supporting statements, as being a clear winner on veracity & verifiability. The nations backing UKR, however, have not even come close to the same standards. Inconsistent and dishonest have been the two descriptors I'd use.

I don't like seeing it shaping up this way but it's what I've seen.

Russia won't be happy until all the choke points are sewn back up, i.e. the old Soviet borders.

Like with most wars most visceral support for them comes from folks out of harm's way .

The farther they are from Ukraine, the more fervent their patriotism and nationalism seem to grow. This sentiment appears widespread, as I have yet to encounter a Ukrainian living in the West in 2025 who expresses a willingness to return and defend their homeland. Instead, many seem content to offer support and enthusiasm from a distance.

Quite funny how the dude ran from Ukraine into 'freedom' but once safe and living on our dime his patriotism skyrocketed.

No fit, fighting age man from any country should be admitted as a refugee for any reason. Fight and if necessary, die for your country! Fucking deserters....

Do you have a source for the GBs that got their asses kicked in Russia?

Have you been to Russia or any former Soviet country? Besides being white, they’re not that similar to the US, culturally.

the actual answer is that the donbas was never a part of what we now call "ukraine" until 1991.
