China already has the most strategic military point on the planet, the Panama Canal, which we so kindly bent over and handed back to the Panamanians.

The whole One China policy has always been a bit of a crock of poop. The ROC is still holding out in Taiwan after they were pushed out of Main Land China post WW2. Keeping it a 1 China policy is a glimmer of hope that one day Taipei can been the center stage, ie, in control of all of China, like they have wanted for nearly 80 years.
I don't think he is green lighting anything. He is just attempting to calm tensions. The real aspirations of the "blinken" types is control over all of China. And why he sells it under the One China policy as it sounds like, cowtowering to the PRC. Kinda like the Phrase BLM... when it is nothing of the sort.
