He went to school for engineering apparently, starts a little club called the "World Economic Forum" and a bunch of the worlds richest and most powerful people manage show up? In other things relevant, here's a vid from 2 years ago that shows some amateurs building a plane (drone) from chicom parts that did a 200km autonomous trip over water and landed within meters of target:
that stuff the Iranians are cranking out might as well be these, upscaled a bit with a payload. That's more than enough to cross the strait from China to Taiwan. Imagine a few thousand of those as a first wave (used if for no other purpose than to deplete defensive missiles and ordnance). Cheap too. I'm not an RC aircraft aficianado, but a cursory glance indicates that plane + support tracking and receiving equipment is in the $1-2k range.

Most drones can be readily equipped with thermal. Even if you buy a drone that doesn't have it the effort to install it is pretty minimal. The real issue is the quality of the thermal that is available. Higher quality IR falls under ITAR so it can be harder to get and more expensive. The lower quality with a very small SWAP requirement is easily obtained.
Once an opposing force can detect the command and control frequencies, they would probably have the capability to locate the source of the command and control then destroy them.
The secret is being able to hide in plain sight. That will be difficult but not impossible.
The use of smaller/ non-mil (or rather non-high-end MIC) drones in Ukraine previews the future of war.

Other is how widespread AI and machine vision is now days , one of the drones we sell for like 15-20k $ (with no made in china parts) has thermal, frequency hopping and , AI machine recognition so can fly for most of the time 'radio silent' only sends back once its found a target and its only question of programming when it will do the whole mission without input . (Chinese equivalent is likely to be had for 8k $ without the AI and frequency hopping, but Chinese could add that if a customer ordered for less than 1k $.)
Thermals are now becoming quite common on civilian drones over 4k $
Israelis are already offering individual personnel kill drones based on commercial racing drones. Low level AI is the game changer not the drones themselves
