Is the iPhone/iPad barometer decent?

    Spoiler alert: YES

So I was tooling along the other night on my way to Austin at FL320 and decided to compare the accuracy of the iPad (iPad Pro 11) barometer.

Cabin altitude was reported at 5700 ft, so I would expect the app to report somewhere in the realm of 24.22 in Hg (if you didn’t know, the phone or iPad gives you station pressure or absolute pressure). To my surprise the app gave me 24.32 with an altitude of 5825. That’s well within any margin of error we need for an accurate solution.

Just another tool and trick that can be used in a pinch.

    Cool.
my guess is Airbus ECAM SD page...A320 maybe?

GW of 136400 certainly omits the 321. Maybe a shorter hop in a 319, but my money is on a 320. Lol

I’ve tested a number of apps against Fifi too, and they all seem pretty accurate. If the data from the phone isnt right, just pull the breaker and wait 3 minutes...err...nevermind. Lol

I use Barometer - Altimeter on a iPhone 8. It works pretty well and I used it exclusively until I acquired a Kestrel.
