Is the Nikon 20 MOA Rail AND 20 MOA Weaver?

I have a Remmington 700 SS R5 going in a Whiskey 3 Chassis, W3 just arrived in the mail today.

The action already has a 20 MOA rail on it. I have a Nikon M308 that came with the one piece mount/rings that has 20 MOA built in (saving money for a nice NF).

IF I zero at 200, do you think I will bottom out the Elevation adjustment trying to take out the 40 MOA built into the mount and rail?

I realize I could just mount it up and go shoot it, but thought maybe somebody has already confronted the issue. That and my bolt is out to be machined for a better handle.

The Nikons have a rather limited adjustment range.
Not sure you could get a 200 yard zero with 40 MOA of cant.
I suggest you remove the mount that came with the scope and buy a set of rings.

I looked on Nikon's website and it lists the "max internal adjustment" at 40 MOA, so in order for your mount to work, the scope would theoretically have to be set from the factory at it's maxed out elevation, then your base/mount would compensate that 40 MOA down.

Scopes typically come optically centered in their adjustment range, so for this scope, 20 MOA up and 20 MOA down.

You might be right at the bottom of your elevation with just a 20 MOA mount.

As always, I could be wrong.

What you could do is count the number of clicks up and down from where it is now, and add them up. That would give you the number of MOA you have up and down on a 0 MOA base, and adjust from there. You would know for sure then.
